Head Unit Advice

Recommended Posts

I am looking at the following three headunits and would like to see what you guys recommend. If you have another option let me know about it. Time correction and sound quality are most important. The crossover abilities may come into play but my amps have that area covered. Thanks for your input. Alpine CDA 9887, Eclipse CD7100, Pioneer DEH-P880PRS.

All of these do the basic features I need such as satellite radio and Ipod. I do not car anything about the area serve in the Eclipse. I am more concerned with which one would give me the best sound quality performance and have the best build quality.

All three are good choices and you wouldnt go wrong with any of them IMHO, but the Eclipse CD7100 in pro mode can set the crossover points in 1hz increments, has a 16 band eq and 8volt RCA's. The Alpine 9887 I would have to say has the Eclipse beat in ipod control and access. I cant speak for the Premier DEH-880PRS, but I hear its very good as well. So from the two HU's I know Im leaning towards the Eclipse CD7100.

I vote 880. 1Hz is way finer than necessary, although more adjustment than the ones given in the 880 would be nice. An 8v out is completely unnecessary and doesn't do anything. I see the separation between them as really the L/R eq on the 880 which IMO makes it the only choice out of the 3.
