Thinking about going sealed? 2 Q18s

Recommended Posts

What up everyone! Newbie to this forum!!! Just want some opinions on going sealed with my Q18s. I read a couple of threads on here were some folks are running their Qs in sealed enclosures and they seem to like it. Currently mine are in a 12.3cu enclosure tuned to 30hz and I pulled a 146 @ 39hz with it. Here a link to my current build

I've got good sq now but want better and I think going with a big sealed enclosure would do it. Want you guy's opinions! Thanks!

Good to see you over here. I'm curious to see the differences in opinion between your ported and sealed. I vote for a tryout on sealed while keeping the ported enclosure in case you decide to go back.

I think I'm going to try it. Thinking approx. 11ft^3 with some polyfill. I know when I did this with my old Kicker L515s they hit harder and sounded better. I love the way my Qs sound now,and I think I could pull a 150 with the setup I have now, but I'm just curious bout what it would sound like in a sealed enclosure. And I'm not worried about "not being as loud" cause I know they would still get loud in a sealed enclosure. Plus with me running an Epicenter it would pick up the REALLY LOW htz better in the sealed.

I'd run them sealed.

But then again, I'm not a basshead.

SQ will "improve" in my opinion, but you will definitely loose in output. As others have said, keep that box in storage incase you want to go back to the loud side of things :)
