How Much Can Arsenals Really Handle

Recommended Posts

well i have the older model arsenals and i have a orion 2500d going to two 15s they are handling that many watts okay just wanted to know since the new arsenals are beefed up they should handle way better right. Just like every sub scott makes people double the power and they handle like champs. so what you think???????????????????????????????????

I think if you are an idiot you can blow a sub and if you are smart you won't. The recommendations are there for a reason and it isn't to help people who know what they are doing. The real question is why do you care what the specification is? If they give you the output you want with the power that you give them they are fine.

I'm also going to add that power handling is greatly a function of the enclosure they are installed in. Please read "Hoffman's Iron Law" in the technical section.

Ok, I had a lot to type and say that I'll try to get to tomorrow (got a little distracted listening to vinyl). But the long and short of it is that RMS Power ratings (which don't really exist in the sense that some believe they do) are essentially quite useless when listening to music. The eternal question is:

"Can sub A handle amplifier B?"

And the answer, realistically, is that you're the one who controls that. After all, it's your fingers on the volume knob, isn't it?

if you here it starting to distort or if you smell that familiar smell, turn down the sub volume :)

Input? Me??? Naw...lol

I think it has all been said. If I look at the coils and suspension on the previous model, we have upgraded those in size and number. But I am never one to say double the RMS all day and youll be happy. While there is a possibilty for it, I wouldnt in a million years stick 2500W to the older version (nor the newer one). Just as Steve Meade has 4500+ W per BTL, I do not recommend power like that to those either. At the end of the day it is really a function of the user and application more than anything.

Parts are beefier, but my recommendations are not :)
