sub forward port back?

Recommended Posts

Would it be ok to put the subs forward and port back into the car through the arm rest in the back seat. I was thinkin of doin sealed, but think i am hooked on ported enclosures. i will be doin a small cut-through behind the arm rest in the back seat where it could port into the car. what do you more experienced installers think???

Also, would I be better off using aero ports pointing into this opening or just use the basic port?

Ok A bit confuzzeld here, but I think your saying your port and your subs are facing the same direction ( which is forward towards the cabin ) and the enclosure is in the trunk. Usually port back sub back works best, but not always. Basically you have to try as many positions as possible to find the one that is right for you. I personally placed a baffle in my rear deck and gained from it, but my port isnt directly pointed into the cabin either. If I was going to try something else for me, I would probably seal off the trunk from the cabin and port directly into the cabin through the seal. heh but I dont know the outcome of this yet, maybe someone else can take over from where I left off.

what i was gonna do was subs facing away from cabin toward rear of car, like you usually see. the port was gonna face going into the cabin. i have heard that doing a baffle is a pretty good way to go and takes up a significantly less amount of room, so I may try it. I am tryin to do everything i can in order to keep the spare tire, even if that means makin a easily removable amp rack to get to it, so be it. god only knows i hate being stranded in the middle of no where with no spare.
