Gotta a New Dodge Magnum......

Recommended Posts

I got rid of my G35 and bought an Explorer which I decided not to keep, so I got myself an '07 Dodge magnum.

I have a pair of Q15's and a US Amps MD2 running off of a hi-lo converter on the stock system, and it still sounds tremendous. In a couple weeks I am installing a new HU and some mids and highs, but mu question for you is....What subs would you run in a Magnum if you were going for a LOUD daily ground pounder that would meter well. Meaning, not an all out SPL setup. Stick with the Q's? Get a pair of 15" BTL's? A single 18" BTL?

My new baby...

Nice!!!

Well, with what you have now, it is still stock electrical friendly for the most part. Stepping things up to BTLs being done right will have you dig into your pockets for extra batteries and a good alt as well. In all honesty I dont see a single BTL18 doing too much more than the pair of Q15s either (in most situations). A pair of BTL15s with a healthy dose of power would... but youd need to do the electrical as well.

Im all for selling subs, but you already have a solid setup going. Is it still lacking in output for what you need?

Im sure a bunch of ideas will be posted shortly though ;)

Thanks,

Scott

My setup is louder then most cars down here, buuuuuut, I want more :domoslay: What can I say? I'm addicted and now I own my own car, now more company car BS. I'm getting metered on an AC this Sunday. It should be louder then the G35 was, I can definitely feel the 30's n lows more. Upgrading teh HU will help too.

Yeah, I think I may pick up a pair of 15" BTL's from you soon and throw about 2k at each of them. I have a 140 amp alt right now.

I was thinking about getting the RF 4000d or maybe the Goliath 5000d.

Let us know what numbers it does. Is it ported now, or the same sealed setup? Either one of those amps should push a pair fine. While not as much as it seems most like putting to their BTLs... I dont always agree with the power people use either...lol (but what do I know as it seems to work fine).

if u want more but at the same time still want to sound good

do 6 q10's and 1 stetsom 7kd(k watt amp) with the subs facing up and the port facing back tuned to 32hz..ur box wont be all that big either

and all u have to do electrical wise is get 2 extra batts..a batt that has alot of reserve and a slow discharge rate but a quick recharge rate

Yeah, it's the same setup as teh g35, but the Dodge Stock HU is worse. I'll let you guys know the score on Sunday.

I just picked up a NSB90 Battery, so that should help. I'll need a little assistance in getting it wired up. And if I can afford to throw more power at the BTL's, I will. In all honesty, I would like to have 3k-5k on each one if possible :horse: As usually, everything boils down to money.

I also have a set of 8" Daytons and a pair of Tweets to throw in there now, too. But I may just throw in 2 pairs of 3-ways and call it a day.

And if any of you know anyone who wants a Shocker Sig 15", holla at me, I got one of them too and more 0 gauge then I know what to do with.

The first thing I am doing is building the new enclosure. It is basically a 40 x 23.5 x 18 enclosure with the four 4" round by 15.25" aeroports. I should be able to use the same box with a pair of BL's or BTL's. That should boost my output more right there, for now.

So I was bored today.....

Actually, I have the local show tomorrow, and I wanted to get metered in a ported box, so I hit the home depot and grabbed some stuff.

http://cyvforums.com/index.php?topic=787.msg4108#new

The box is 7.7ft^3 after displacement with (4) 4" round x 15.25" ports firing back. I think it is tuned to 33hz+/- I haven't tested it yet, because I need the glue and silicon to dry first. Hopefully I can break the 149 mark. :ready2go:

Yeah, I was just sort of mentioning it for the fun factor. I would rebuild with the Q's and get the most out of them before upgrading to higher power subs.

My goal is to get a pair of BTL's. More then likely it will be towards the beginning of 08, even though, at first, I thought I could do it sooner.

damn son.........what mic?

It was an AC, not the TL, but I'm still happy with the score. I actually had my settings wrong when I metered, but who cares, I'm getting the BTL's now. Be ready to hear from me this week Scott.

Still a solid score!

Yeah those Qs and SSDs are gateway drugs for those in Florida. Not sure what it is about FL, but they all get hooked and step on up ;)
