Some sub advice please?

Recommended Posts

I need a little advice on a sub choice. I'm running 4 mtx 10's sealed right now. They are in 2.04 cu.ft gross per pair. I am wanting to upgrade to a single pair of 15's. I don't want to rebuild the box, just replace the mounting baffle. I am having a hard time finding a pair that will work in my sealed requirements. The only thing I have found is alpine type r 15's. I am interested in getting lower and louder than my 10's with good sq. I listen to mostly rock, metal, Lots of pink floyd, 80's hair bands, with some rap, techno. Any advice would be appreciated. Power comes from an saz-1500d, so 1 ohm operation is preferred.

Thanks

Not with the 15, but I've heard the 12 in just such an app...

Loved it.

I have a 15" DVC 2 TC Sounds 3000 and it is amazing sealed. I have it in a 3.25 ft^3 gross box feeding it 1400 watts. it is tight and low but gets loud as well. I thought about upgrading my amp to a SAZ-1500d in the near future. as well as playing with a vented box for even more output. what I can tell you is I had 2-kicker 10L7's and this 1 15 sounds better, hits lower and imho is louder. with the space you have you could try it sealed 4ft^3 should give you real nice low extension. or go vented for more output. I can't say it will out perform 4 10's but the sq is great.

Quite a few people on here have Q15s sealed, but Bryan C in FL seems to have the most experience with a pair of them. He has turned some amazing numbers in dB Drag as well (for a sealed SQ setup in a G35). Hopefully he can chime in. We have quite a few SQ people running them (and a few from the Buwalada/Hybrid camp in both sealed an IB). People seem to like them sealed.
