im kinda mad about my first run score for my loaded BTL 15 its runnen off about 1200 watts right now and my amp can max 1600 i have a stock ALT. (80 amps) now but my new 200 amp alt on the way! its 4.1 cubes with two 4"flared ports on the side tuned to 35hz FIRST with a 137.1 NOW tuned to 40 with a 139.2 MAX i have NO room for a bigger box! any suggestions? Porting? will the new alt. help tremendously or just very little?

did you:

big 3

0 gauge wire

maybe upgrade your battery?

the 80a alt aint helping much either (but you have that fix on the way)

What kind of car was that in?

What kind of amp?

What does your voltage look like when playing music/burping?

Hows the bracing in your box?

The first thing I noticed was how much power you're giving it. All things the same, giving it a good 2000 watts should easily help you break 140. I didn't realize how much power these things really need to get moving good, so I'd try that.

If that's not an option, then why not post a few pics of the setup to help everyone get an idea?

Often times just testing different things many times will be the only way to find out what will work best for you.

More port area often = higher score, but again there's no way to say that will automatically be correct for you.

its in a toyota corolla! with an orion 800.2 West coast customs amp...the voltage EASILY drops to about 11.4 when i have it up loud! but i have my fuse breaker right now and it flips before my voltage has the chance to drop more. and no i understand with 1200 watts im not expecting NEAR 150 and ill only push about 1600 into it but i wouldnt mind in the 140s i want higher than my old Audioque SD2.5 did (142.9) i will most liukely upgrade my amp when i have more funds to do it

I dont mean to burn on you jason(acsamples), but not only you didn't test on tones, you didn't take the time to test( not moving the box around at all.. I am sure he can hit 140+ right now if he would actually test. And the AQ did 142.9 im my jeep. And i wouldn't even count the 141 you hit in your car once. just saying man.

dude i KNOW i havent tested i TOLD you that i understood that...and i didnt even say anything about the AQ not bein in my car it doesnt matter im just sayin it STILL got the 142.9 and theres not REASON in the world to not count the 141 i hit in my car with it...just cuz u werent there doesnt mean it didnt happen

again with the burn, it's 3.5 cubes, not 4.1( thats WHY i said you get a 12"!). before sub and port displacement!. also, i can't shorten the flared ports any more(it's down to the flare ends). in the beginning i told you i could make a switchable panel on the side so you could put regular pvc pipes in there, for higher tuning. IM trying to say my boxes aren't crap, and the btl can get a better score.

Like tejcurrent said, more port area may be very helpful. I personally feel that two 4" aeroports aren't enough for larger subs, however, some company's(even TC Sounds) recommend two 4" ports for a 15" sub. Good luck, and keep us up to date with what you do.

there is a reason not to count 141, because you only hit it once and never got it back there again.

yes youre right! but to my recollection if you HIT a number, all it takes is once! and thats your highest score! in which thats wut my HIGHEST personal score was

well i was thinking the meter might have malfuncioned there. when i was testing the AQ, it jumped to 148 at one point, with a low volume. And you could't get it to 140 before. So a 2 db jump without chnging a single thing is something...

dude leave it alone! i aint callen you a liar but NEVER once in my life have seen MY DB meter jump! and i have hit 140 before too! AFTER the 141 theres no malfunction my system was FULLY charged (just started the car) and i turned it all the way up with the box in the previous testiong poisition and thats wut i hit! then i didnt even TRY to hit it again right after because i was going somewhere

it has a 100 amp fuse. wattage= ampsxvolts. now correct me if im wrong, but at 12 volts, wouldn't it put around that much turned up all the way?

if it's an a/b amp it would be 12x100x (about) 65-70% ( amps aren't 100 percent efficient) so =840 watts rms roughly. no where near 1200 rms an certainly not 1600-2000 rms. most of us won't count a score unless it's off the tl. sometimes possibly off the ac meter. i have an epic 150 with a meter on it, i don't trust it either.
