my 4 channel HK598 blew. im not exactly sure what the problem is, but its not in protect, it powers on, but no music...something prally broke becuase of the voltage drop. i put the powerbass xa3000d in....as soon as the bass hits, bam, voltage = 8v! this is on the stock electrical though.

the powerbass is holding up like a champ, i have it off now though til i get home so i can put my hc2400 in after work, hopefully thatll help....i also emailed EA about an alternator. i really hope the hc2400 helps though in retaining power to at least 12v while the alt can recharge it....becuase right now the voltage drop is just ridiculous.

its loud though. 15" treo ssx in like 4 cubes @ like 35 i believe, im borrowing it, takes up my whole back seat, and the hatch on the mini....

is about to fall off LOL

vids tonight around 7pm est when im off work.

lol im going to when i get home, as well as put in my new battery.

but reason i said ma sucks is becuase ive heard alot of people that say MA amps blow easy when voltage is low. i know its bad for all amps, but ive heard MA blows pretty easy.

it is my fault, im just ranting lol.

im gonna try to get it warrentied :)

uh... running anything at 8v is real dangerous..

I wouldn't base the MA blows thing off of what people said. No 12v amp is built to run at 8v. Thats just silly to think its that amps fault for not being able to go that low.

ok its not blown, it just keeps going into protect whenever you turn it up. even if the voltage is at 14 with the bass off.

you cook it, lol...

and like previously mentioned, don't point fingers at the amp. i know of several memphis amps that blew at 9 -10 volts. those people don't go online and blast they suck balls though.

shit, that's the reason people preach electrical before amp....

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

lol i know. oh well.

i called MA, waiting on Chase or whatever the tech guys name is to return my call. ive called before and he called me back usually.

they dont need to know my voltage is was too low. ill see what he says though.

ive got a chitty little power acoustik PS2-420 running them now lol.

i have another problem though. i was so pissed last night, i thought one of my pro60's mid's blew.....

took off the panel, where my crossover is moutned to (door panel inside)

turns out the crossover is the problem. something inside must have came loose/coming loose/unsoldered....becuase it u lay it a certain way, it works, other ways, it doesnt.

my doors flex like CRAZY....prally vibrated something loose....but at least its not blown...ive got them disconnected for now though.

whats a good place (in general) to set my gains on the powerbass amp? my bass on the HU is at 0, and the sub is at +3 out of 10. volume i put to 44 out of 60, i never go higher.

currently i have the gains right at half, bass boost, etc is all the way down...and ive got the remote knob in, so when the knob is on MIN, theres no bass, and i put it to MAX and its like the amp was before the remote knob (gains at half)

whoa long post

The only possible "general" answer to that question is all the way down, otherwise there is no general. Having your gains set as low as possible is a great thing.
