I currently own a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier that I am currently building a subwoofer install in. My complete and current installs: New Kenwood KDC-BT378U radio with built-in speaker amp, All new door and deck speakers. (COMPLETE) Big 3 Kit, Mechman 270 AMP Alternator, (1) Sundown ZV6 12" 2-OHM 2500W Subwoofer (wired to 1 OHM), One run of 1/0 gauge wire complete with fuse and capacitor), Fiberglass Subwoofer Box(Not sure what size yet, any help on this would be greatly appreciated) Just wondering if all the above installs with be able to comfortably power a 3000 watt amplifier to run the subwoofer properly? I know Sundown Subwoofers are underrated, just not sure if I want to over-power by more than 500W, seems safer to me like that, unless I'm wrong? Never dealt with this much power before, max was 600 watts before this build. Any other install recommendations? Bigger battery because it is stock? Better springs for the added weight in the rear? Box will be fiberglass but the subwoofer alone weighs 95 pounds. Thanks in advance guys.

Alright guys so this is my first "big" system. I have 2 soundqubed hdc3 15 d2's in a 10 ish cu ft box tuned to 32 hz. I have 2 soundqubed q1-2200 amps. I plan on strapping them. My mids and highs I got on lock so they're not important. I have a 180 amp ho alt by singer alternators. This is the absolute biggest he could make it. 1 xs d5100r under the hood and 2 xs xp3000's in the back. Nothing is installed yet I'm waiting for all my install accessories. Do you think I have enough batteries and is my alternator sufficient enough to handle 500 amps of max current? I'm waiting on my xs charger to come in to install everything because I need to fully charge my batteries. Also. I plan on strapping these amps at 2 ohms to get 4400 rms. The only problem is that both of the amps don't fit on the back of my sub box since the port is so big. So I was planning on putting one amp on the side of the box and one on the back. I can't put one on each side because I don't have enough room. So that means that the power wire to one of my amps is going to be about 5' long and so will the ground wire. The other amp's power wire is going to be about 2' long and the ground wire will be too. Will this cause a problem? Thanks guys

Voltage problems, need more power
mickey95 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Hey guys, so i'm at a stump with my electrical in my car. I have two sundown SA-15's in my Honda CRV being powered by a hifonics HFI 1500d. I would love to upgrade my amplifier and get about 2500 watts to the subs but my voltage is too low for that type of power. I have been searching for a compatible high output alternator with the CRV for a while now, but have had no luck. Also the alternator is located under the engine so I would have to pay a shop to go in there and install it. All lots of money i don't have to spend. Are there any other ways i can give my electrical system a boost to maintain that 13.8+ to power a higher wattage amplifier? I have already done the big 3 fyi and have a kinetic hc 1800 in the front. thanks- 6 replies

Is it important to have a battery isolator when installing a second battery?
