1. Product: 2 Fi SP4 18s with Carbon Fiber Dust Caps 2. Specs: Both are dual 1 ohm (0.7 ohm) 3. Description/Condition: Ran them for a little under a year on low power (Audioque 2200). Magnets have some scratches but the surrounds, baskets, spiders, and coils are in excellent condition. Does not include the original gaskets. A couple of the pictures are next to a 10" Kicker "Competition" (lol) for size comparison. I threw out the original boxes some time ago, but Fi was nice enough to send me two brand new boxes to ship them in. So these will ship in original Fi packaging. 7/10 Cosmetically 10/10 Mechanically 4. Price: Asking $900 SHIPPED OBO for the pair. Because they are dual 1 ohm, I would like to keep them as a pair. NO TRADES, just trying to get rid of all my stuff. I'm located in Huntsville, AL 35810. Would be willing to drive to meet someone within reason. 5. Pictures:

3 SSA Evil 18s B Pillar wall 2002 Suburban Enclosure opinions wanted
musgofasa posted a topic in Newbie Sign IN
Hi guys, Just got the third 18 in this week and we are starting a new build in a 2002 Chevy Suburban. We've got a TON of room as we're going to go up to the B pillar. We're using 3 SSA Evil 18" subs on 3 Linear Power 2250 amplifiers which should be at 2500w ea (maybe a touch more at 15.8v we will be running with dual alts/batts etc). I've modeled these subs till my head hurts and I've asked a few people for opinions on the enclosure and gotten quite a mixed result. The most popular opinion has been a 4th order using 3 to 3.5 cu ft ea sealed and 9 to 10.5 cu ft ported...modeling looks best to me at 3.5 and 31.5 cu ft with a 30x17.25 port (roughly 90% of total Sd) Gives me a port velocity around 20m/s at peak but the low end of the output suffers a little in the model. I've built literally thousands of boxes but only a few walls and honestly I'm not sure how it will perform considering the smaller cabin space in front of the box. Our ultimate goal is a reasonably musical response with as much output in the hair trick range as possible. Doesn't have to play into the teens and doesn't have to do 160s at 55hz but would like it to be a demo monster and play music. With that in mind I've also modeled a 6th order and ported walls and come up with a better looking curve...I have only done a few 6th orders and never anything nearly this large. Most of mine have been 1:1ish depending on modeling but this one seems to work out better at 18 rear tuned to 24hz and 25 front tuned to 50hz. Has anyone here done a band pass with these subs in a very large vehicle like this? Or would anyone be willing to take a look at the numbers on these subs and see if you might have a better idea on the band pass design for them? I've seen quite a few vids of 4th orders and I know a few people using 4ths but haven't heard them. Considering our goals and the relatively low power I want to take advantage of all that airspace :-) Subwoofers in question, number of subwoofers & subwoofer size: SSA Evil 18D2 Amplifier being used, specifically the model number. Linear Power LP2250 Fabrication skill level: Expert (27 years building and competing) Preferred material to be used (i.e. MDF, fibreglass, etc) MDF multi layer Vehicle which the subwoofers will be used in: 2002 Chevrolet Suburban Musical preferences: Demoing at shows, pop, some rap and Dub and a LOT of Rock/classic Rock System goals: Primarily fun at shows and parking lots. Demoing low tones and musical Previous subwoofers you have used, and their installation particulars: many many many brands types of installs over 27 years List any research you have previously done: Youtube vids of these particular subs and others with 3 18s as well as comparable subs, checked with other builders and searched here for band pass and threads on these subs. -
Hey guys, I am needing some direction or reassurance in what I'm doing with my port. This is my first time working with an 18" sub and with SoundQubed equipment. According to soundqubed.com, the HDC3 18" wants a box anywhere from 5-6 cubes with a vent of 96sq" x 18" long. To me, that port seems odd. So I just got done designing my box. External dimensions are 25" x 25" x 26" but I'm using double sheets of .75 MDF, so each measurement take off 3". I calculate internal space at 22" x 22" x 23" = 11,132 inches = 6.44 cubes. Rough internal space after ONLY sub displacements is 6.4ish cubes. My desired tuning frequency is 31-32hz, because the fs of this sub is 31hz. So, I designed my port on both WinISD and CarStereo.com at 3" x 16" and 15.5" long. Both WinISD and CarStereo said with that size of box (6.3 cubes internal), port size (3 x 16 x 15.5), and tuning frequency (31-32hz), I should have zero problem. After all displacements, I'll roughly have an internal space of 5.95 cubes, which is EXACTLY what I wanted. I'm asking you guys, because it's not what soundqubed suggests and that's what worries me. I want you guys to check out what I'm doing and see if it all looks good to go. I appreciate any insight or feedback.

Hey everyone, this thread is me clearing up a few questions I have about HDC3's and HDC4's. These are the two subs in question. (so it's easy to reference ) HDC3: http://www.soundqubed.com/HDC3118-Copper-Coil-Subwoofer_p_25.html HDC4: http://www.soundqubed.com/HDC418-D1-A-_p_137.html We are talking about 18" only Whats the story behind the high Fs of the HDC'4? Was this a non broken in woofer or something? The suspension is that stiff? (equivalent HDC3 is 9hrz lower IIRC) Between the HDC3's copper coil & the HDC4's aluminum coil 1. Can I daily an HDC4 on music? 2. Is there a large efficiency difference? 3.Why is the 4's coil an aluminum winding? Just weight savings and thermal dissipation? is it worth worrying over? Required cubic feet and port area? Do they want the same? & What do they want? Everyone loves pics.. First the HDC3: Then, the HDC4 Lets see what everyone thinks. p.s. Happy birthday M5

Hey everyone, i'll get straight to the point. I'm selling my Fi BL 18" Sub in a 29hz box 40" long 17" high 24" deep (not 100% positive on this I will have to double check) along with my Hifonics Brutus brz2400.1D amp. It's a dvc-2 ohm sub. I bought this sub around late January. I've had it installed in my car for only 2-3 weeks. It was an impulse buy and if I didn't desperately need the cash I would keep it without a doubt. The amp and all the wiring was bought around the same time as the sub from sonicelectronix and I paid for a 3-year warranty. The power and ground cables are 1/0awg knukonceptz and the rca cables, remote wire, and speaker wire are part of a kit I got awhile pack from elite audio. I have 2 inline fuse holders with a 300a fuse and a 150a fuse. A couple ring terminals as well. The dust cap is blue and I have the cooling and flat wind options and the daily option selected. $433 with shipping, ~$100 for the wires, $300 for the amp with the warranty and I paid $200 for the box which has fiberglass insulation. I have the original box Fi sent the sub in and the amp. I don't know how much it would cost to ship a box that big, so without the box I would sell it all as a package for $650. quickest way to contact me to discuss anything would be texting me @ 574-323-3166. Thank you.

This is one of the 18's from Lance's Yukon. I picked it up with the intentions of using it and was never able to and I need to get rid of it now haha. It is in great condition with just a few chips in the ferrite part of the motor and a small nick in the spider. It plays fine though. I'll take 410 shipped or 350+ shipping to you, whichever is less. If you're local to 76708 (Waco, TX) I'll take 325 just to save the hassle of shipping. On to the pics Small nick in the spider. Nothing big. I will take trades for a Crescendo BC2000d if we split shipping on the Zcon or a Zcon/Mayhem/BTL N2 12". I will also take a pair of Xcons or Icons + Cash. If you have any other trades just ask me. Let me know!

Hey guys, i had some concerns about my future system. I'm planning to get an FI SP4 18, AQ3500.1D, and a high output alternator 200@idle and 375 max in the very near future. I can't wait to get it, but now I've ran into another problem. My powerbass oem replacement components and coaxials just aren't going to cut it. I'm planning on running 3000rms to the sub. About how much power would i need in some new tweeters and components, etc., to even out the sound? I don't want to hear JUST bass, i would like some nice highs and mids to come close to match it. Any power, speaker, amp, etc., suggestions would be appreciated.

Will be starting build soon! Getting 2 ma audio hk12x2's rebuilt by PSI into 18s and the will handle 2000 watts each. Currently only have audiopipe 1500.1d but looking for either a sundown 3500 or audioque 3500. I think that's what they are. But something that will put out at least 4000 watts. Whatcha think?

Hey may be a dumb question but does the power handling differ from the original specs with the xmax coil and the cooling package added to the sub??? its the n2

Ok so today my dual 1 SSD 18 stopped working for seemingly no reason during very low volume music. The sub is not frozen. I checked the sub with a battery and it did nothing, checked all wires etc. etc. I will check the coils on my multimeter when I get to work tomorrow. The box is build to the specs of the sub 7cu.ft. @ 32hz. Powered with a Fosgate t1500-bd (2ohms and very conservative gain). The coils look normal to me, not black or even dark in any way. Sub doesn't and never did smell like burnt coils. I'm thinking the coil's glue failed. I'm stumped on this really as I've been good to this sub and only had it for a few months. I hope Fi will take care of me and warrant the sub. Also if this is under warranty, do you guys know if shipping would be covered?

Hi i'm somewhat new to this forum. I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad cab (crew cab) and am trying to decide with the space I have what setup will give me the best result. I'm really looking for Sound Quality and getting super low with loudness a given as either should get more than loud enough for me. The vehicle will be a DD but will also be a show vehicle/ demo for my installs, maybe a couple competitions if i can find some. The largest dimensions I have to work with are 24" tall, 30" wide and 32" deep. (could maybe go an inch more on height if it would make a big difference in sound. According to RE box calculator I have 8.09 cubic feet after port displacement but without sub displacement. my port would be 3.5" wide and would be an L style port with the back length of 12" . Tuning would be about 28hz but would be a little higher after sub displacement. If I went with the 2 15" Icons I would have the port and one sub facing up and one facing forward. (is this a bad idea?) Or one 18" zcon with port up and sub up? Amp would be a Crescendo BC2000D. Looking to purchase all in a day or so, just want to know if I will notice a huge difference in two 15" icons over 1 18" Zcon as its almost $200 more? had experience with quite a few brands but never SSA. I appreciate your opinion and experience/ comments Thanks, Codester

What are some specs on the ufo style btl 18"? As i cant ind them on the fi site. It was built in 2009,fully loaded dual 1 ohm,got it from a guy that never used it,still in the crate..my main question is what is the xmax on this style btl and are these still in production?? Any input is greatly appreciated..thanks!!

This is what I have right now Most of these number where pulled from another Tahoe build to give me a base. Ok now I just messed around with the port length until I got the tuning I wanted (33-35). I don't really get how it is longer than the box? This my first box design and is a temp. box for me to use about a month or so. Sub will be powered by a Cresendo 2k at .5 or 2ohm depending on voltage gain All the way down, and I'm going to take it easy. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
