my kw-nx7000 finally died. I am looking at this unit as a cheap replacement: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_42331_JVC-KD-X50BT.html. My goal is to find a cheap , reliable HU with bluetooth, ipod control, at least 2 RCA outputs. Thoughts?

got the new jvc in. Little bit of alternator whine. Gonna ground the rca's tomorrow. Hopefully that will fix it. -

cool deal. Does the bluetooth dongle have to go in the back? I like to have my ipod plugged in the back of my current deck and stowed in the glove box -

i was at work last month and what did I find in a junk drawer? A brand new digital converter box. I asked my boss what was the story with it. He told me that he and a coworker had bought it cheap in 2009 to use with a tv in the pharmacy and that I could have it. Win. I'm putting the box in my center console and buy an antenna to mount either on the back deck or near the front glass by the front defroster. anybody used one of theses in a car or RV while moving? I hear reception is crystal when parked and choppy like satellite during a storm while in motion, Thoughts?

So it would be ok for catching the local news in the parking lot on my lunch break, bit not for much else? Oh well, it was free and might be fun to hook up

starting a new vlog and trying to get healhty

i have not been doing what i am supposed to do and now I am back up to 290 -
This is the first video of my new vlog series. My wife was just diagnosed with cardio myopathy. Basically, I am starting to a vlog as a motivational tool for myself to get healthy and get her healthy. We are both overweight and she is a little over 6 months pregnant. I will be doing weekly(if not more frequently) videos to document my progress with diet and exercise, as well as other health issue share how she and the baby are doing. This first video just gives a little insight and backstory and annouces what I will be doing. As soon as my son is born, my wife plans on joining me in exercise(once cleared from cardiologist). She has given up caffeine and is on a pretty rigid, low sodium diet. I am kinda doing it too. I am a diet( mostly calorie counting, and avoiding junk) just not as rigid as hers. Thanks for watching.

I have had weird issues off and on with my amp (teac 200.1) and my components( phoenix gold radials ran passively). little things like sounding muffled at start up in cold weather. I bought the amp on here a few years ago for $15, so no big loss. The other day i was involved in a fender bender and the power wire from the front battery to the back came undone. I didn't notice this until a few days ago. The tip off should have been that the sound deteriorated over the course of a week . Yesterday I took an old speaker and some wire and tested the amp and rca's for a clean signal. Left channel is dead and right is static-y. I said screw and attempted to run my components off the HU and still had static. I pulled out the left set and the wire going to and from the crossover was all dirty and corroded. I tried a Pioneer 6x9 i had lying around and still static and then silence. What the hell do I do now? ( besides the obvious)

Piece of cake. well I got the amp in and cleaned up a lot of old crap. Ran out of energy and daylight to get the speakers in. Either I don't know how to solder or I bought a shitty iron. Either way, I'm probably gonna be using butt connectors to extend the tinline crossover wires to the tweeters. I need to get some sort of metal strap to mount the tweeter in the factory location on the dash

About to start the install. I'm a little anxious about the work ahead of me: stripping out all the old, extending wires, running into doors, etc
-
the fat kid in me was thinking that as well. probably gonna do the install Saturday or Sunday early in the day. I will post pics here and probably update my old build log.

amp and comps should be here today

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_43987_Lanzar-HTG237.html the amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22730_Kenwood-KFC-P709PS.html the components any thoughts? I am trying to keep the budget as small as possible. This is more of a fix than an upgrade for me

Well, I'm gonna redo everything. Low budget will include Kenwood KFC components and a Lanzar amp. I'm not going to cut the corner of tapping into the factory wire this time. I'm gonna do it right(wire from the amp, directly to the crossover). May play around with tweeter placement this time

getting cell phone audio and video on DVD/Nav HU
chainsaw posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have a JVC KW-NX7000. I have had it for years and love it. I recently got a Sony Xperia Ion cell phone. My goal is to get things like Netflix on my HU screen for passengers to watch netflix or browse youtube videos on my lunchbreak, etc. The phone has a mini-hdmi output. The HU has an open RCA( audio/video) auxiliary input. So far I can't find a cable that converts it. What is a good solution? -
