    NS v1 vs NS v2

Nightshade v.2 = 2000-watt RMS model * ETA is mid 2010 (maybe sooner) Only thing I could find: very large voice coil with more mass , higher power handling, stiffer suspension than zv2's (built to order, can go with a softer suspension) Oops, a bit too late.

    Running 3000D at .25

They used to be under warranty down to .5 ohm daily, so .67 is fine, pending you know what you're doing. You can trust him.

    Running 3000D at .25

Read the responses, derrick already answered that: From derrick: 'Three dual 1ohm subs wired in a series/parallel configuration will result in a 0.67ohm nominal impedance. DCR should be 0.4-0.5ohm. We've had great success running Sundown amps there daily but keep in mind that when wiring below 1ohm current draw goes up. A solid electrical is a must have. If it was me personally I wouldn't hesitate to run any of my Sundown amps @ 0.67 daily.'

What is the fastest you have gone

A human being's terminal velocity is ~120mph By no means, am I saying it wasn't crazy. It's on my to-do list. "The terminal velocity of a falling human being with arms and legs outstretched is about 120 miles per hour (192 km per hour) "However, by diving or "standing up"in free fall, any experienced skydiver can learn to reach speeds of over 160-180MPH. Speeds of over 200MPH require significant practice to achieve. The record free fall speed, done without any special equipment, is 321MPH. Obviously, it is desirable to slow back down to 110MPH before parachute opening." Quoted from http://hypertextbook.com/facts/JianHuang.shtml ^^

    Welcome to the IHoP

I'm in Virginia Beach, VA.. got a little bit of rain out here.. Yesterday alone, I saw a restaurant fall into the bay along with a SUV, a boat get chopped in half (at my buddies house), and then a barge get washed up on shore down by my house. A couple more of these storms and I'll have waterfront property!

  9. I've read the same thing several times now, charging them to 15v does hold voltage better.. Assumption, feel free to correct me: If the alternator only charges the batteries when they get low, it should take longer for the battery to drop to the charging point, thus less strain on the alternator. If you have an alternator putting out 16v, it will kill a 12v battery due to the constant overcharging. If you put a 16v battery into a car with a 12v alternator, the alternator will never fully charge the battery.
  10. You should always put a fuse before/after any battery, close to the battery, even with the fuses on the amp. And no, that isn't the problem. If the fuse was too small the fuse would blow, and it shouldn't be blown if you hear output from the radio.

i have a volvo 850 glt, and have been looking at these two companies. Icons or sa 12's

Which pair of subs would be better choice with a sundown saz 1500d in my case... 2 12" SSA Icons or 2 Sundown SA-12's.. I currently have: Car: 96 Volvo 850 GLT (currently have seats down, but will be removing back speakers/firing the ports up toward the rear deck) 2 x 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect 12vq (4 ohm) 1 x Infinity Reference 1600a (600w x 2 ohm) Qlogic Type 2 Slot Vent, Double 12" Hatchback Enclosure, 1.50 cu.ft. X 2, Tuned to 37 Hz I just purchased a saz 1500d, which i'll be running at 2ohm for now until I can get new subs, and a new box depending on which subs. I also got a spool of 1/0 welding wire to do the big 3, and extra for a trunk battery when I get the new subs. I listen to mostly rap/r&b.. occasionally rock/classic hits.. so, 2 icons or 2 sa 12's.. i know both are excellent choices..

    Icons or sa 12's

I have read around quite a bit on the forums before posting, checked tons of profiles for current setups, read every thread I could find on the 1500d... but the amount of weird facts about car audio over the past several years has me questioning everything. 1500d does ~1500w at 1 ohm... icons are rated at 1k rms, I would want an amp that does ~2k rms to fully power those subs, correct? In my head, please correct if I'm wrong.. but the sa-12's rated at 600w rms would blare off the 1500d more than the icons would.. meaning louder/lower.. In terms of power handling, I'm assuming the SA-12's would be a better choice. I personally want the Icons, I just think the SA-12's have the ability to go louder/lower on the saz 1500d. <--- Again, please correct if wrong.

    Icons or sa 12's

Because I already have a box 'close' to the recommended.. just tuned a bit high.. I will be building a new box though with the ports pointing upward to fire into the rear deck, but will use the current box for now. The original question about the icons vs. the sa-12's was more about the power handling. I know the sa-12's can handle the power from the saz 1500d.. but is it too much for daily? I'm pretty sure overpowering the sa-12's with the gains down would sound better than underpowering the icons.. I understand it's more of the box design that matters for SPL or SQ and I also understand these are both SQ-based speakers, but both have the ability to go low/loud. I've heard tons of great things about the Icons, and most are going up to the Xcons because they sound incredible... however, I haven't heard much about the SA-12's. It seems like most people are doing massive 4-12-16 sub setups, but haven't seen any reviews on a dual subs other than one SQ setup.

    Icons or sa 12's

I will probably go with 2 sa-12's.. but should I keep the current box or get a new one? My box spec: Qlogic Type 2 Slot Vent, Double 12" Hatchback Enclosure, 1.50 cu.ft. X 2, Tuned to 37 Hz Sa-12 recommended specs: 1.75 ft^3 ported tuned to 30 Hz -- F3 of 26 Hz * Tune higher and use a smaller box for more SPL oriented setup (Use 1 - 1.5 cubes) * Enclosure can be as big as 2.25 ft^3 with lower power levels

    Need new setup

Ah, forgot to include.. will be using Sound Deadener Showdown's CLD tiles + MLV barriers. Can't wait to hear the difference between that and my current fatmat.. : )

    Need new setup

Current setup: 96 Volvo 850 GLT (8 factory surround speakers.. will be removing 6x9's to vent sound from trunk.. tired of leaving seats down) Clarion DXZ775USB HU (5v pre-outs) 2 x 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect 12VQ - medium pole pieces inserted Qlogic Type 2 Slot Vent, Double 12" Hatchback Enclosure, 1.50 cu.ft. X 2, Tuned to 37 Hz. 1 x Infinity Reference amp 1300a (pretty sure, i remember does 854w @ 2ohm) 1 x Optima Yellowtop (currently only battery in car) 1 x Stinger 1.2F cap (not currently using, probably selling) Fat mat in trunk/license plate Currently looking at: Upgrade big 3 Move battery to trunk 1 x Sundown 1200.1 v2 or SAZ-1500D (not sure which, but definitely Sundown) And now the question.. which sub to look for? I'm thinking one 15 or two 12s. 90% of the time, I play rap/r&b.. but every now and then switch to rock/classic hits.. the loudest subs i've heard are probably my buddies two 12" sony xplod's, best sq would be my infinity's. I do play my system loud most of the time, but am not one of those annoying types.. i turn it down at lights/when in the neighborhood.. looking for something a bit punchier, but at the same time clean.. I've been looking at the 15" Xcon, or maybe dual 12" icons... the 15" nightshade.. 15" re xxx or 12" re mx.. not sure.. I'm not worried about trunk space, will be selling old hobbies (mostly laser pointers/fish tank) for loot, can put ~$1200 total on everything, but not looking to blow all of it if not needed.. Also.. I'd love to be able to hear some of these high end subs/setups.. anyone near the Va Beach, VA area?

    Hello from PowerMat Sound Deadener

Sound Deadener Mat = Powermat, not Fatmat Sound Deadener Mat: Created by JLC Audio in late 2006... JLC Audio online since 2004.. not quite 15 years.. I've used both, and Fatmat did smell worse/didn't stick as much.. Powermat (Sound Deadener Mat) wasn't bad.. seemed about the same quality as Dynamat but a little cheaper Edit, fyi: Sounddeadenermat/Jlcaudio: JLC Audio 419 S 2nd Ave Corry, PA 16407 US Fatmat: Fatmat Sound Control Inc 20 Park Road Painsville, Ohio 44077 United States

    Keeping sound inside the car

Another of my myth's dispelled.. I will be using the CLD tiles + MLV barrier in my Volvo instead of the cheap 2-layer fatmat sitting in my garage.. thank you!
