I have a 96 nissan hardbody and have never had a major problem with it, 200k+ miles on it so far and still running strong. I've had several different loads in the back from mulch, helping 10+ people move at different times, multiple motorcycles, towing our boat on long trips a couple times, and even taught a few buddies how to drive a manual (including myself, and has NOT been easy on the transmission). It still feels the same as it did when it was brand new. I love that truck! Edit: I don't know if the truck is worth $2900 though, happened to get ours for $6.5k off the lot brand .. the dealer we got it from had an order for 100 of them for a business coming to our area, but cancelled. It had no back bumper, radio, speakers, right side mirror, nada..

Question about running a 4cannel amp with just 2 on
brandonf replied to swagger_wagon468's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Go install those speakers behind your sub and let me know if you can still here them, if thats the case I may install some in my tunk lid. According to a previous post, he doesn't have the sub amp yet? If he can't hear it once he puts the sub in, bridged up front is the way to go. -
I quoted the wrong post, my bad.. I wasn't disagreeing with anything in your post, Hzd Skizzy, nor did I recommend the Q in this case. : ) @OP: You likely won't 'cook the coils' on the BL as long as you set the gains correctly and disable the bass boost. There's quite a few great articles on here about 16v electrical setups (in this case why you shouldn't), how to properly set gains, good batteries to use in car audio, etc that you should read up on before purchasing any products. Before you purchase anything expensive, learn from your previous mistakes! I'm personally shocked I didn't ruin more subs/amps in my previous years, the crap I tried from believing other people I knew.

I used to use an earlier version of that amp, not a bad amp.. take your pick, a Fi ssd/q/bl/btl will all sound great, but it sounds like you are going to want the bl or btl. Despite how great the +18db at 40hz bass boost sounds to you, DO NOT USE IT (unless you want new subs again). And you have quite a bit of reading before even looking at 16v batts, doubt the kenwood will run on that power anyway.

headunit noise, and alternator whine. can someone assist?
brandonf replied to jrb00992's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Not true OP: Take the ground from your harness and make your own ground, 99% of the time factory grounds are crap. I've always heard the same thing as well, is this another myth? I've been running my rca's on the other side of the car from the power wire for years now after reading that, and only cross them at a 90 degree angle if needed. x2 on the factory grounds though, had the same problem and was fixed by making a new ground. -

Thanks for the info! It turns out there was something wrong with the oil trap, replaced it and good to go! I'm still getting a new car, but in a few months after saving up some for the down payment.

DoctorQ had the 4 dcon's in his volvo facing forward, very clean looking.. I keep track of the Volvo's :x

That was the third volvo I owned (two 850 GLT's and a 760 turbo), brother has a s60, dad drives a s80, and mom drives a xc90. I was checking out the c30, but it's a little out of my price range... we're certainly familiar with volvo's, maybe i'll keep the trend with a s40/60. Thanks for the input!

Flash drive + cd's every now and then, going to look into XM or Sirius. Clarion dxz775usb

Any chance one of them fits on a 96 volvo 850, 2.4L 5 cyl.. to replace my 90amp bosch? I have a buddy with a steel machine shop if I need to make a custom bracket (worst case).

DoctorQ, I used to have the same car, white 95 volvo 850 glt with 30% all around, was only illegal on the fronts in VA. I have the same tint on my green 96 volvo 850 glt and strangely doesn't look as dark as my white car did. I had a buddy hook it up for $130 all around (everything but the windshield), and never had any problems with the popo. Also, I hear if you talk to an eye doctor and have 'sensitive' eyes adjusting to light, you can get them to write a note and can have tint as dark as you want. Non-related, but where do ground your wires to?

I'm sure he's the main stig, but there's multiple stigs depending on the car/availability. If you look carefully, you'll notice height differences in a few different episodes. Like his African and American cousin? Hahahahaha, no.. wasn't referring to 'those' stigs. I meant like when Michael Schumacher brought his ferrari to the track (took off his helmet as the stig), Damon Hill, Jay Kay, as well as others.. i'm pretty sure it just depends on the kind of car they're testing.

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, but here are the pics my buddy took. Most are the hot antique cars and a few of the Porsche Panamera. We also saw the Blues Brothers (replica) police car in the parking lot.

x2 on the Locktite, I used it on my motorcycle to keep everything tight after a couple parts kept falling off (chinese bike under $2k brand new) and have had 0 problems since.

I work as a developer/programmer for a medium-sized webhosting company, inmotionhosting.com, been in the webhosting business for ~10 years and have had subs in my car for longer.

Very nice addition, if it was spelled correctly. Support has two p's.

I agree, just made another in the same section with the same problem. Feel free to delete them, *shrug*

I didn't have my camera with me, but my buddy took these. Sadly, they didn't have an Audi R8 or a BMW M6, but had a few nice ferrari's and the new Porsche Panamera 4s (4-seater). I'm only linking a few of the pics, but there are more on the photobucket site. PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE THIS POST WITH ALL OF THESE PICS. Ferrari out front, can't remember which: Porsche Panamera: Audi TT: BMW Z4: 1932 Ford Cabriolet (Beautiful.): Blues Mobile in the parking lot: Link to more random pics: 2010 Hampton Roads Auto Show
