x2, You should get a Fi Q with or without BP Power (its up to you, it will give your sub more thermal handling for a little more abuse but not to much more than standard specs). The 10" needs .2 - .6ft^3 while the 12" needs .8 - 1.5ft^3, so if you can get over .8ft^3 after sub displacement is calculated from box volume then go 12" but I would go 10" since you have limited space and dont want to put a good speaker in a cramped box plus ( any sub will get low no matter 10" or 12") so if thats what you want then just get the 10" my friend. Thanks guys, I appreciate the info so much. I have pretty much already decided on the Q! now for the 10 or 12 issue. What I plan on doing is adjusting the box this weekend to get the maximum amount of volume out of it and measure that. If I can get it to .95 or 1 cuft after displacement i'm going with the 12 if not i'm going to get the box to .6 cuft after displacement and go with the 10.

Well I have a sundown 1200d I will be running 1 10 or 1 12 off of. This is going in a custom fiberglass box going under the seat in a 09 ram. I have alittle more than 7" mounting depth but as of right now only about .83 cuft of volume. I'm looking to extend that to around 1.0 cu feet if possible( and if I don't get the 10"). I have set myself on a fi sub but i'm not sure if is should go 10 or 12. This will be in a sealed box. I'm looking at the ssd and q series. For the 10" i'm actually over the recommended box volume already (.6 cuft). And for the 12 i'm alittle short (.8 cuft). What are your thoughts on what I should do?

Well, I just signed up after leaving the car audio game for awhile. Got myself a sundown 1200d and will be getting some form of a fi 12" sub in a custom fiberglass box.

not to sound like a jerk, but you should really buy or at least pick out what sub your going to use THEN build an enclosure designed specifically to the sub (then buy amp). From the title I assume you have already started building the box, basically your building a pretty prefab box (unless I read this wrong) and we all know how prefab enclosures sound... that said it sounds like your box isn't complete at least, I'd go with the 10 and make the box a little smaller then you were planning and it should sound better then getting the 12 and having too small a box. just my $.02 GL either way tho Fi's are sweet subs and Sundown amps rock but remember the enclosure is EVERYTHING. I understand what your saying but I do have reasoning for what i'm doing (and have done) Regarding the amp I bought it because I got a good deal and really kinda set my mind on it to begin with I knew I would be going with a quality sub that could handle a good amount of power. I know I might not be able to use all the power but in my opinion it's better to have to much power than not enough. As long as I know the subs limits and don't push it past them it shouldn't be a problem. Now, for the enclosure. I know that the enclosure is the biggest part that is actually why I haven't bought a sub yet. I have a very limited area due to me still using the rear seats. With that said I wanted to BEGIN the box and get a good idea on what kind of depth and volume I would be able to obtain. This will be a sealed enclosure so as long as I get the correct amount of cuft I don't see why it matters. Getting the volume I need in a ported box under the seat just will not be possible. I would really prefer the 12" due to me wanting alittle deeper bass. Since alot of the people on this forum have heard them before. My question is this I can do .6 cuft for a 10" or .95-1.00 cuft for a 12" (both after displacement) what would be the major sound difference and which would you prefer and why? Thanks!
