fudge, one hell of an offer on some speakers...about half off and they're NIB, i will need the speakers in the future too, but no use for them right now. I don't have the cash for them, but could throw them on the CC. decisions decisions

wtf....just spent the past 30min hooking up different combo's of mine and julie's amp/sub to eliminate the problems...everything worked fine, so i reinstalled everything back in her car and everything is fine..... won't know for sure until tomorrow when we can play it for a decent amount of time, but as of now everything checks out

    Welcome to the IHoP

i also figured out why my sub wasn't working....in my rush, when i hooked the speaker wires into the amp (monoblock but with two sets of speaker outputs) i hooked it up to + and +...durrrrr

also i was running the box/sub/ball setup in the stratus for a couple months beating the hell out of it with no troubles.

I think the amp went then took the sub, the ball definitely had nothing to do with it because it didn't even have a melted spot in it. I'm guessing if the sub got hot enough to blow, the motor would have easily melted the ball. also the pic doesn't show it but the box is very long, the ball could have been tucked in the "box" part of the box (err not in the port part) and still had like 6-10" between it and the sub.

so, apparently the new amp that julie got has bit the dust....that's not for certain yet, but the 12" fi q is definitely toast. removed it from the ported box today, the one that we built at dave's, me, ramos and dave. The box is 2.5 @ 28hz but damn it sounded like it was tuned lower, even ramos mentioned it. well i think i figured out why...when we removed the sub julie spotted the gremlin sean kept stuffing toys in the other box we had laying there, didn't even notice that he had put his ball in the one we were actually going to use.

yea he had no idea the gn's were fuel injected, and they(3.8 vs 3800) have their displacement in common, as far as i know that's about it.

omg the mini is getting a wall?!?!?!?!

sketchup = 99% useless for building a wall. you just BUILD IT, if you want the 6.5's at a 22.5 degree angle, then that's the angle you cut. unless you're talking about a 22.5 degree angle from some other plane than the front of the box. also..here's a little exercise, how many other people that are doing these breakthrough installs (like being the 'first' to wall a mini, or putting 18 tweets somewhere they don't belong) are on here asking for help? you learn to crawl, then you walk, and once you decide to run you'll already know how.

    Welcome to the IHoP

actually..that reminds me, a guy on the fiero boards wanted to switch his 3800 n/a over to carbs, everyone tried to tell him forget it, too much of a PITA to bother with, especially since there is so much backing for the fuel injection setup. he schooled everyone and let them know carbs were the chit, just so you know, the buick grand national's 3.8L, a motor that was quite great we all know, was awesome and had a carburetor and was turbocharged. Why not go with carbs on the 3800 if the 3.8L turbo had carbs???? durrrrr why the hell do people always want to do stuff the hard way?

julie got demoted... i'm really not looking forward to pacifying her for the rest of the night. That might sound mean but she won't stick up for herself. She needs to learn to tell people to go to hell.

agreed, and strangely enough, switching from the belle to the RF, my stage height raised a lot, seems to be a little more centered but also a little wider (no big deal there), and on the notes that were reflecting badly before, they're even worse now. Note this is a straight swap with the same EQ settings, i just found it weird that the two different amps had that much difference.

oh yea...i have no pucking bass, i bet i pulled one of the wires out of the terminal while putting the sub in the box. No time today (or probably at all this week) to check it.
