This guy obviously has his priorities fucked up. I think the narator is spot on. If my job is to make a sale, then that's my job and making rationals why I can't isn't going to help me or anyone else. Some people are come up with reasons why they can't. Others come up with options to get what they need to be sucessfull. In the context of the monologue Alec Baldwin(the person doing the speach) is there to motivate a failing sales team, and he is correct as most of them are "wanting". There was a scene in the Rock too where Sean C looked at Jack N and said "Loosers always whine about doing their best, winners go home and f+ck the prom queen." Even Yoda is down with the rules of the world "Do or do not, there is no try" I beleive to my core that if you're doing something with everything you have in you, you will reach serious acheivement, but those who do not give it their all and complain how sucessfull others who have acheived some desired hight, have really robbed themselves.
