Round 2 Team Second Skin - Looking For Members!
Frostedflakejake replied to Second Skin Rep Jon's topic in Second Skin Audio
bigjon or Stefan. Both have contributed so endlessly to make this Forum a better place. -
I personally would try to sell the Mayhems here on SSA. You don't see them for sale often. You can always do local craigslist as well. I personally like to sell local so I don't have to deal with shipping. Just another process to go wrong and another potential headache. That being said, you might be able to sell them here much quicker.

solo x 10's or mtx 9500 15's???
Frostedflakejake replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Oh, I'm beginning to understand why people don't have much patience for you. If you had two 12" 9500's and loved them, why don't you think you would love the 15''s? They are only going to be probably louder. The cone area for three 12"s is almost exactly the same as two 15"s. So you like your music low and loud. It's safe to assume that if you put the two 15"s in a capable enclosure they will be louder than when you had the two 12"s. Why don't you listen to his 15''s and then make a decision? I understand you want opinions to make you feel more informed on the decision you're going to make, but you're one of the few people that have actually had both subs installed.... you're opinion is going to be stronger than mine who hasn't had experience with either. What size are your solo x's? If they are less than 15"s then I would take the 9500's. -
So I was cruising Ebay for fun and came across this... LINK! Looks like the sub has no gasket, and no holes for mounting? I have no experience with IA products. Can someone explain this for me? I understand that the guy probably lost the gasket, but where the heck are the mounting holes? I'm just curious It's also not a bad price for a shipped 21" Death Penalty if its all legitimate. Don't see used 21's for sale too often! Thought I'd throw it out there for that reason too. Thanks! ~Jake

solo x 10's or mtx 9500 15's???
Frostedflakejake replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
If everything checks out with the 9500's, I'd do the trade. But that's just me. I would never even have the solo x's to begin with so obviously we have different tastes and my opinion is useless. Unlike everyone else, I haven't read your other threads which evidently number quite high. What exactly are you looking for with your substage? -
No gasket? hmph. Thanks guys! I wasn't planning on buying it; I was originally going to put this in the "real craigslist" thread under the for sale section but since i had a few questions i posted it here instead The price did seem low and a little sketchy, but you don't see them for sale too often so I hoped it would be legitimate and maybe someone who was looking for one could have one! Too bad

"What Hurts The Most" Bass Remix?
Frostedflakejake replied to ford302redneck's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
Shiz - What software do you use? Just curious I play around in that realm more than i do much of anything else -
my advice is to look for a UFO style BTL 18. You're a little late. As I'm sure you noticed they were selling like hotcakes a few months ago. I understand what you mean about the surface area of the baffle and not being able to fit that many woofers on it. Hell, I could barely fit two fifteens in the back of my Explorer.

I was surprised to discover that Best Buy sold the Alpine 9886. With my low-level of experience, I think the 9886 is above average when it comes to single-din head units. At least above average enough to have found it in Best Buy. Now like I said, I don't have much experience and certainly don't have much experience with ghetto-fabbing a home theater system to run in your car. Saying that, I would see no problem in using drivers from a home audio set up in your car. I would use a car audio amplifier. I most likely wouldn't use the same enclosure as well. If you rebuild the enclosure, make sure to note the design intent for the speakers and try not to venture too far off the path otherwise you risk trying to make the speakers do something they aren't designed to do and that could heavily, heavily affect the overall performance (especially sound quality) of the speakers. For example, I have a 12" klipsch home audio subwoofer. For me, it's a nice little pre-fab unit that was effortless to install. If it's in a 3.5 cubic foot ported enclosure tuned to 25 hz (just an example, no idea of real specifications), I personally would think twice of making a box for it tuned to 45hz. Does that mean it won't work? No. Does that mean it won't sound awesome? No. It means that I simply don't know enough to comfortably do that and assume it will yield a positive response. However, i think your cousin simply intends to stick the whole system in his car without changing anything about it. Something to consider, home theater systems are made for an entirely different environment. It my sound amazing in your room, but that certainly doesn't mean it will sound amazing in your car with no changes. Could it? Sure! I'm willing to bet that it won't. I'm sure someone can help you out more, but I figured I'd give it a shot. My general consensus? If someone has to ask this question, it's probably not a good idea for them to do it.

I am aware the concept of "skins" i had just personally never seen this one anywhere else! It was a fun surprise when i saw it there

Wondered across this on the web and couldn't help notice the similarities in design.... http://www.sporttwin.com/index.php?/topic/18992-throttle-cable-guide/

2000 for 2 SA-10's
Frostedflakejake replied to zooyorkajd's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm running two SA-15's on a saz3000d. Does that mean the subs are seeing 1500 watts a piece? No. My gain is turned down. Also a 1500 on two sa-8's is just about right... isn't the whole SA line rms 600 watts? Its just like everyone else is saying: Do you have the electrical to back up that power? If you don't there isn't even a real reason to have this thread until you get your electrical where it needs to be to run that much power. -

My amp doesn't work. Help?
Frostedflakejake replied to Angelboy863's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Was all the wiring for the amp already there? Can you plug a different amp into the same exact wiring and have everything work? If somethings wrong with the amp, I would probably hope its connections. Bad speaker terminals and/or bad RCA terminals or something else of the sorts. Take the plating off and take pictures and then post them as well. Maybe somebody can pick something out. -
Tuned in for this. You're looking in the price range similar to mine when i was looking. Interested in seeing what some more experienced members have to say

I'm game RamRod

Cool Cool Cool That's good news RamRod That's good news Bromo! Belle Isle works for me. It would be really nice. Not entirely sure if that's what will be best for people out of town however, but as a venue I think it's best. Any other ideas for location?

ahh Mac is the one from Grand Rapids. Excellent. Well who has time constraints? I was imagining this happening on a Saturday since most people have jobs. Since someone has to start organizing something, how about the 20th? Are y'all free then? I think that with YoungGun, S.DeYoung, Bromo, Mac, DBLBELLY, and myself we could have a fun little meeting. I want lots of people obviously, but i also don't want to have a hard time finding somewhere to meet. I think if i contact Hove he'll be interested. He lives in Macomb and he and I tried to meet up last year but never got around to it. So is the 20th good/not good for anyone? That date means nothing to me, just throwing it out there It would have to be during the DAY if its on that weekend. That's dreamcruise weekend.

Oh i love your youtube posts...
-
There's a show in Milan? My time window is now till the 26th of August. I would love if S.DeYoung and Bromo could make it
