Well either way i'll make my point, Tourists can be much more vulnerable obviously since they don't know the area. Like... driving on certain sections of roads late at night is just flat-out a bad idea. Once you get on foot, it gets more risky obviously. Locals get it too, it's just sad to hear when the visitors get taken advantage of. They never know they are even in danger Detroit is a beautiful and wild place though. The bad reputation adds to the experience. The amount of people that I've taken downtown who are surprised by the culture and how much they enjoyed their experience numbers in the 20's. Again, sorry to hear about your family and friends Bangin

Sorry to hear it BanginGMC where they locals? or visitors?

Holy cow! Those trucks are expensive! I paid $10k for my 2004 explorer with 25,000 miles on it. Goodluck bro is listed online? i'd like to take a look

Paper finished! One of the most heavily cited papers i've ever written.

Procrastination sucks. I'm usually very good at keeping to my schedule. Being ill puts me behind though 03:15 local time, paper due at 12:30. Almost done!

Call me creepy, but developing makes me relate more to the film. It's just another step to the process that finishes your shot: 1) Find shot 2) Find correct angle 3) Orientate yourself and the lighting source 4) Decide what f/stop and SS you want for your finished look 5) take multiple shots (Ends here for digital mostly) 6) Record f/stop and SS 7) Once you finish the roll of film, wind it 8) take film out of camera, and in a darkroom/ darkbag, put the film in the development container 9) develop negatives (lots of steps in this but thats boring) 10) after negatives dry, check them out! Always a fun step. The first sign of a mess-up is here 11) Take negatives to enlarger 12) Test strips 13) apply filters 14) test strips 15) dark-room photoshop ninja stuff 16) develop pictures I dunno, those extra steps just make me feel that much more accomplished when i have the print. Also however, you can take a perfectly awesome shot, and ruin it SO many ways. I mean, you can ruin your whole roll of film in seconds. So it can be frustrating, but with most things, the payoff is worth it Sorry for writing a book. Been a while since I've talked about stuff like this Edit: i read this again. I didn't mean to come off as a "know it all". The steps listed there are simply what i did and may not, probably are not, the best way to set up a shot. What i learned is that I didn't want to do photography for a living, so i tried what i was taught, but also formed my own techniques that worked for me.

I sold all of them except for my Canon EOS Rebel XSN. I was realllllllly into photography in highschool and started taking pictures as a side job (family portraits, senior pictures, wedding pictures, stuff like that). I had so many i can't even remember... a couple nikon's and my Canon. Like all enthusiasts i had a Minolta. Besides the Rebel, i never had a camera for much longer than a couple months. But as soon as i got out of highschool, i lost access to darkrooms. In my opinion, developing is half the art and half the fun. Photoshop is fun and all.. but darkroom "photoshopping" is just what I'm used to doing and I think it's much more interesting. So for now, i don't take many "artistic" photos. Mostly photos to document places, events, and people. The hobby faded out for me :/ Plus, with digital cameras so prevalent, everybody out there can take crystal perfect shots. They don't need to worry about the speed of the film even. I'm just so horribly biased towards film cause It's what i grew up on. Photography is just like anything else in the world; the more you do it the better you'll get. Go out and take shots. Lots and lots of shots. You don't even have much of an excuse if you're digital

Looking over them again, I can definitely see how the pictures were "better" in the second set of ones you uploaded. Better contrast, better shot choices, just all around better in my opinion. I still rock Film SLR's. Might pick up a DSLR one day....

I didn't know it got cold enough in Texas for ice to form on cars...
-
Bromo makes a very good point, didn't think of that myself. Could have tried to take the car to a chop-shop but couldn't make it far on account of the car being a manual and then decided they had to take something in order to make it worth it so they tore the car apart trying to find something. Idk. Glad your Uncle got it back though And again, what Bromo said. There are places you don't go. Especially by yourself (i'm not the largest guy in the world) or at night. If you're smart about it, you probably won't see much. Unfortunately there are some things you can't avoid, but that's humanity for you. I was parked on the street and every car infront and behind me had their windows broken. Probably just a bum trying to get some money.

What kind of neighborhood does he live in? I've had the windows of a truck I was driving broken in Detroit just so someone could take the change in the cupholder.

will this box be big enough?
Frostedflakejake replied to SMpaintball78's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Buy the right adhesive, fasteners, and necessary tools for making the box. Short-changing this step will result in you only short changing yourself. In my opinion, clamps are a necessity. You sound like a serious audio enthusiast; this won't be the last box you build and the right tools make it so much easier. Take your time. Use the right utensils. And the box practically builds yourself. Don't know how you saw that as being elitist... and if people take their time and listen to the advice people are giving, you can do it right on the first try. I did. And i'm not special, nor do i have outstanding skills with my hands. -

I'm really surprised you don't see more of the 21" builds. I hope you do a build log of yours! I always wanted one.... -
What is this statement based off of?

Once you start modding anything is possible The off-road Explorer crowd is larger than people think. Especially the first generation. Obviously some wranglers that come stock with a locking rear diff and skid plates and such are more aimed towards off-roading, but that's a given. I was simply stating that to rule the explorer out so quickly may have been uncritical. -

I'd buy that explorer from his uncle at the price he's selling it... I do have to consider the terrain differences. I think Stefan lives in AZ... or somewhere near there. A little different than here in Northern Michigan. But, i am biased as hell -
Don't quite understand this part...
-
Yeah i'd take the explorer. They can be modded to be extreme off-road vehicles just like any truck can. I love the first generation explorers so my opinion is biased. But the extra cash can't hurt either You're positive you can get that cash for your truck right? And positive your uncle will sell you the explorer for that price right?
-
Me? Take the explorer. I'm an explorer type of guy. How many miles are on your truck? What type of driving do you do mostly? What do you look for in a vehicle?

I've never gone from 1 whatever sub in a healthy ported box to 2 whatever subs in a sealed box. So my experience there is non-existent. I did go from a slightly over sized sealed enclosure to a 33hz tuned ported enclosure on my 2 SA15's and it was a world of a difference in terms of output. I know the drivers and situation is different and may not offer much help, but it's the only experience I have to share. The easiest way to get louder is by increasing cone area. If i were you, I'd check the classifieds section and see what people are getting for used 12" SSD's (maybe you already know) and then see what i could get with that money. That way you have an even playing field and understand all your options. In terms of your last question, i think Ohjay answered it best: p.s. are there pics of your box anywhere?
