RF T-1000bd Protect Light Coming On (help)
Frostedflakejake replied to Maddenkid2011's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
For future reference, it's not always good practice to force an amp into protect mode again and again and again and again. The protection circuit exist, but usually can only take so much strain before they malfunction and then you have a real problem on your hands. This is what I've experienced at least. -
Don't suppose here is any chance you know what shuriken battery he had?

it can get pretty damn frustrating at times. but i like it so far =] i am only an undergrad after all so the designs I'm encountering and implementing are fairly simple.

Here at Michigan Tech our EE's have some classes with the CPE's (computer programming engineers), so if you do enjoy computers you should get some of that in the EE field. For example, i've had to take a class on how to code in Java and a class on Digital Logic involving CMOS circuits, combination logic, and Verilog coding. At my university, as an EE, i have to take calc1, calc 2, differential equations, linear algebra, and then another math course of my choice. (could be calc 3, stats, hell could be elementary Algebra if i wanted it to be). EE's and Mech's are pretty different in my experience. I suppose a horribly vague and oversimplified question would be: What are you more interested in? How a combustion engine works? Or how do you build circuits?

I would need crutches too after taking that kind of abuse

Have you guys tried it? Don't understand why everyone is being so critical on the song... Max Richter is a pretty well renowned composer and sorry RamRod, I like you, but Dinah Washington isn't just an old lady. Well, she isn't much of anything but a corpse, but you know what I mean. I'll test it in my little home audio setup tomorrow. I personally really enjoy the song, and i hope it will perform well. You can listen to a higher quality version here

Think I'm going to get my motorcycle race license this coming summer.

I hate switching between programming languages/formats. My patience for error codes is lost somewhere between Java, Matlab syntax, Mathematica syntax, and Verilog.

I spend alot of time on this Forum. I read, read, read, read. Post every once and again, but mostly my input isn't needed. I treat this forum, and any forum, like real life conversation. That's probably odd, and by looking at users behavior, I hope it is odd. I have changed alot of my car audio habits due to this Forum. That's because I don't only come here when I have a car audio problem, not anymore. I'm here to offer as much help as possible, and to have friendly interactions with fellow car audio enthusiasts. There are many people on this board I respect, and regrettably, many more that I don't respect. Quite frankly, there are thread guidelines that every member agrees to when they join the forum. The OP hasn't followed said guidelines. It can be frustrating when threads like this come about every week. And yes, it is attitude like this that ruins this hobby. Legislature already exists in certain states and cities to limit after market car audio enthusiasts.

Speaker whine with RPM's
Frostedflakejake replied to Frostedflakejake's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Ordered a Harbor Freight Tap and Die set. Would have rather gone with craftsman but I was too frustrated with their website. How can they list tap and die sets for sale directly and not give ANY information about whats included in the set? No pitch angles, hole sizes, or anything. Julian: Haven't tried swapping the grounds on the Head Unit. I will try to do everything i can in the trunk first and then try relocating the head unit ground after. My trunk is already all torn up anyways. Thanks to all who have helped! -
Speaker whine with RPM's
Frostedflakejake replied to Frostedflakejake's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So update: Tried going back out and just swapping grounds around to see if it worked. Figured it would be quick and easy and worth a shot. Grounded at same place as Pioneer: no luck. Figured i would try to ground it elsewhere too. The same place where my 2nd battery and saz-3000d is grounded (a bolt that connects suspension to frame). Welllllll that didn't go so well, snapped the bolt in half during the process of getting it out SO basically i have no ground for my external battery and saz-3000. Took positive connections off of external battery and wrapped them all with ~15 layers of electrical tape. Really quite frustrated at this point seeing as if i did ground the JBL there it probably wouldn't have done anything anyways. Don't have tap set here with me at school. Have to find one to borrow from a kid on campus hopefully. Impious: I'll go through that Julian: Ground RCA's? How would I do that? Lants: Already tried different RCA's -

In Need of Electrical Information!!!
Frostedflakejake replied to MasterG's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Lots of mayhems for sale right now too on this board! 2 15"s and 2 18"s (or there were as of yesterday) I'd check out those threads. Some pretty good deals and you don't see mayhems for sale used very often -

Frostedflakejake replied to crazyj23's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
What Stefan means is you're going to have to compromise somewhere. He was also joking about the 6.5 inch sub, he was saying that even if you bought a 6.5 inch driver dedicated to bass (subwoofers) you wouldn't get much output at all. I would ask questions to help, but Stefan already has -
hahahah i literally meant a pack of dogs, like canines. Great question. They had enough men to steal my truck, that's what i thought. Freshh, I wouldn't advise doing this when you visit Chicago. Or any city you aren't familiar with.

One thing that surprised me when i was old enough to start going downtown? (when i got my drivers license) The Dog packs. Just never something i'd ever heard about or seen. During the day they are pretty dormant in most areas, but at night, they come out and its a wild site. Walking over the roads like they own the place. Chicago's got some rough neighborhoods. My friend was there at a public park when a firefight ensued. I don't think driving through would be a bad idea at all. Especially since you already seem like you're going to be aware and careful For example: I've had a group of two cars try to box my in at a stoplight late at night. By paying attention to whats going on around you, you can avoid nearly all incidents. I understand where you're coming from. People who have never been to Detroit bad-mouth it based upon what they hear in the news or just what the general public opinion is. It can drive me nuts. At the same time though, there are places in Detroit i'll never go to again once the sun goes down. It just flat out is an unnecessary risk. (I keep saying Detroit because it's the only city i have much experience in)
