  1. These are the HU crossover specs i found. # X'Over: The headunit features independent Front and Rear high-pass crossovers as well as a subwoofer low-pass crossover. * Front High Pass Filter: Select between 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 ,90, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220, or 250 Hz at a slope of -12, -18, or -24 dB per octave; you can also select full-range * Rear High Pass Filter: Select between 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220, or 250 Hz at a slope of -12, -18, or -24 dB per octave; you can also select full-range * Subwoofer Low Pass Filter: Select between 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220, or 250 Hz at a slope of -12, -18, or -24 dB per octave; you can also select full-range I do not believe this will work for a 3 way setup, correct?
  2. I am trying to decide between a couple of options for my front stage. Everything is currently factory and will be doing a complete install. I have included the below information per the instructions in another thread. a. Most importantly, the vehicle you are working with -------- '09 Jetta b. Any equipment you currently own and would like to use -------- all factory currently, will installing new head (I think the Kenwood 9140 fits my needs best), amp, front and rear stages, amp and sub c. How far you want to take it modification-wise -------- would like to keep the factory locations for the front and rear speakers. modifications inside the door for speaker fit are no problem. d. Budget -------- no set budget, you can see what i plan on buying for a HU. e. Fabrication skill level -------- technically inclined. not an artist, no fiberglass skills f. Musical preferences -------- rock, hard rock, metal, heavy metal, nu metal, classic rock, southern rock, alternative, etc. little bit of country g. Previous products you have used, their installation particulars & likes/dislikes -------- N/A h. Other products you have heard, but have not owned that you enjoyed & their install particulars. -------- For speakers I am currently looking at Focal, MB Quart, JL Audio, Memphis, ID and others i. System goals -------- Excellent sounding (clarity) system. I have a pretty long commute and spend a lot of time in my car. This car actually is devoted for commuting to and back from work. j. 2 way (mid/tweet) + sub? 3 way (midbass/midrange/tweet) + sub? -------- This is the decision/issue, see below notes. k. List any research you have previously done -------- see below ________________________________________________________________ My front door has a factory 3-way speaker system installed. I have done some research and found what should fit in the doors with little modification. Each door can fit: 1 - tweeter 1 - 3.5" to 4" speaker 1 - 8" speaker I'm thinking I have two good options Option 1 Install a 2-way 3.5" or 4" component set and an 8" midbass driver or woofer Option 2 Install a 3-way 6.5" component set. Any help on which option to go for? Any other option I missed? Any help on which brand/model to pick for this setup and music taste? Thanks,
