Rl-p 12" Dilemma: To keep or not to keep?
jonnyboy103 replied to jonnyboy103's topic in SoundSplinter
Thinking about it now I think I will ditch the 6x9s and just get a more powerful 2 channel amp and a seperate mono amp. In this case can anyone suggest just a reliable amp to power an rl-p 12? -
Rl-p 12" Dilemma: To keep or not to keep?

I would say between the two or one amp i do not want to spend over 500. -
So after 2 happy years with my rl-p 12" being powered by an elemental designs 900.1 my amp has chit the bed. I sent it back to elemental designs 2 times to be fixed for free and each time I got it back it worked for a while but the arrived at the same terrible fate. I am not tired of paying 20 dollars to ship it back to be "fixed" again, so I am in the market for a new amp. Here lies the Dilemma, I want to buy a multi channel amp to power a set of components and a set of 6x9s in the back as well as an amp for my rl-p 12 without going bankrupt or running 0 guage wire. The alpine pdx-5 was an appealing choice until i saw that it only pumps out 300 watts to the mono channel which wouldn't do for my sub, right? Can anyone suggest either a 5 channel amp that would power an rl-p 12 (if one exists) or another mono amp thats not $600 and would do while still leaving me some money to buy a 4 channel amp that puts out at least 70 watts per channel? My other thinking is ditching my rl-p and buying maybe a pair of JLs that i could run off of 300 watts, but I love my sound splinter! What do you think? Thanks

I was wondering how do I wire the amp for 2 ohms? I was wondering about a website that could take me thorugh the step by step of building of a sub box. Also where could I pick up the materials?

Alright my RL-p 12 is on its way and now I'm trying to sort out the rest of the things I need. Because of money I am going to get either a Pheonix Gold Xenon 600.1 or a Kicker kx600.1 off ebay for an amp. Any suggestings? Also how and what do I need to wire my sub to my amp? I decided to build a box myself, so for 1 rlp with 600-700 watts at 2 ohms a sealed box should be around 1ft^3? What would be some common dimensions? Finally where is a site that could direct me in going about building a box. Thanks

Alright I will be ordering my Rl-p 12 shortly and I want to start figuring out the rest of my setup and get it in the mail. I have been looking around at amps but I'm not good when it comes down to just deciding on one. I know to look for 500-800 watts at 2 ohms but im not sure really sure what to lay my money down for (which i dont have a lot of) so I'd like it to be the most bang for my buck. What amp should I pursue? I would like specific models too what do you use and does it work good for you? Thanks

Alright so a while ago I was looking around for a subwoofer to fit my needs but I also wanted something that would be quality that I could put in my next car and be happy with for a long time. Then someone suggested soundsplinter, I took a look and decided that these are for me. So now im trying to find the right setup. I was thinking one 12 inch driver would be about right for me. So now comes the part deciding what to get with it. Im looking to spend no more than 400-500 tops. I was wondering what would be a good amp for this sub? I understand that it can handle a lot of power but I'm not sure I need A LOT. Also what kind of box would be right for this? I want to keep things on the small side also so I can still fit a lot of stuff in my trunk. I listen to a lot of rap and rock will this sub hit pretty hard? I'm sure it will with the right components so can you guys help me out? Thanks P.S. Someone suggested a Phoenix Gold Xenon amp are those any good?
