amazing Lantz!!

You need to fill the box to shrink its size and then add port if you want to keep that box and "inexpensively" re-do you setup...
-
lol its done. im just slowly posting pictures as im finally getting around to it Damn.. hurry up with photos bro... lol... Also, better flex videos pls...

sooo.... I'm getting this feeling that you have the wrong idea about specs of a sub... What does the RMS a sub can handle have to do with the amplifier? You could run 2 Gcons on that power... There isn't a necessity to run the subwoofer's rated power as an exact match... Overhead is nice but not needed either... Under-powering doesn't really exist either... Reason you don't see SA series in sealed applications frequently is the fact it is geared slightly more towards ported but not 100%..

looking good... finish now!

If you are goning ot use those lugs(connector), then get the one that uses the Allen key to tight it (same as in the pic), as oppose to the ones that have the slot that uses the flat screw driver (no good). Good idea.. I used similar connectors for my speaker wire on the box and noticed later on they had ones with allen keys...

looks crazy!

Brutus BRZ2400.1D or Soundstream RUB1.2500D
Shogen replied to Brendon's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Suggesting running at .5 is crazy overkill on the electrical... We don't know what he has and I'd be scared regardless of killing the amp quicker... Being tested at .5 and running daily are 2 different things, not everyone has your expertise and apparently awesome budgets Drew.. lol -
Without knowing the requirements of that sub.... A 3.7 cubes enclosure with 1- 6" port at 20" would give you a pretty low tuning so let's say you keep it under that you would have a pretty nice enclosure.
-
True... give us dimensions... you could install an aero port in there and call it a day and get everything needed for THAT sub to excel properly...
-
cool... I was gonna do a little panel since I have dual inputs on my amp just to clean up the wiring... Still might... Have alot of time but not alot of money... lol.. I know they sell those connectors at HD up to 1/0 I believe so I'll see what I do...

Well, 1- 12" sealed won't have the same output as double the cone in a ported enclosure... And like Neil stated you might be pushing it beyond its limits mechanically... That driver could in the right setup take double the RMS that you're giving it. But the enclosure size if most likely the factor in which you are having the problem. I have my 15" sub which handles less wattage in a smaller sealed enclosure than you AND it is bigger than the optimal enclosure recommended by SSA... If you're at 3.7 for a 12" and I'm at 3.2 for a 15" then something is being done wrong ... obviously... I've yet to hear/read this type of thread for a Z series subwoofer from Sundown.... Add blocks in the enclosure to take up some volume.... I've say to shave off up to 1 cube IMO... But I don't know that the Z was made to excel in a sealed application either... Correct me if I'm wrong...

this is great progress for SSA and obviously great for FI .... I know it will work out since the SSA lines are very solid performers for quality and reliability ... You better rep it right...

Happy Bday geezer!!!

looking forward to the install Phil!!!

So I guess the earlier statements do NOT apply to this thread... Good to know... And if the Soundstream XXX basket is good then that means this should be just AS good and maybe better, right? who knows
-
nice stuff ecro... I'm gonna need to follow you and Frosted on Facebook maybe.. As well as edub... Seems we have common interests.. lol

regardless of FI basket or not... Definitely looks like it can do some damage... Look forward to your review/thoughts on it... Comparisons not necessary since we all know variables will be abundant ... Good luck on the install Phil!!! And make it a quick one pls....
