I actually don't think it matters. I regularly ship stuff worth $250k and when it's packed super well and appropriate the shipping monkeys break it. When you slap it in a box it arrives fine. This tells me one thing. When a box is abused shit fails. I'd personally rather have a true failure than a hidden one. Not so sure that packing them way better would make a survival difference to customers. Scott is also not dumb so I bet he's done the analysis of how many failed versus not and chosen his shipping methods appropriately. Sure there will be some that don't make it, but hell you can UPS/Fedex a 1" thick aluminum plate and some won't make it.

What sort of specialty? I pretty much know the whole design team at Polaris and Arctic Cat and the NVH team at Bombadier. A few people at Yamaha, but the Japs really fuck with what they can do locally.

You said it was stated on here. That I doubt without retorts stating the person who said it was wrong. As for the "friends" who cares if they don't know shit and why quote them or believe them which it sounds like you do...

4-18'S 20K Watts Need suggestions on the mids and highs
///M5 replied to tcnotch's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I would NEVER buy a mid that doesn't publish it's T/S parameters. It's super cheap to measure them and when they don't post it's because they are hiding something. Perhaps they are somewhere, but I've never seen them for the DD. As for the Selenium, they are terrible at being a midbass. If you needed a midrange then fine, but for midbass use I'd look for something that has a complete different range. As for what, naming brands would be useless as the size and who makes what model will depend completely on the space available and what you are mating them with. Step one is to figure out if you can fit the HLCD's, until that is done it is pointless to even think about mids IMO. -
If you read it on here then you misinterpreted it, terribly. If you read it somewhere else then you were misled. The whole pretext is amusing since range and SPL are the opposite. As for your friends, well they know pretty much nothing about audio as well then.

Sounds like lots of fun! Sucks ass. Resume first. I fucking hate tooting my own horn. I'm a huge fan of one page resume's and mine is fucking 5. I need to seriously reduce it. FUCK!

Wow, I saw KISS in 1988. Can't believe they are still eating cats.

Good amount isn't very much then... You need a reading comprehension class. It definitely was NOT about woofer size. If you understood that either you read it wrong or you are reading what the idiots type. There are a ton of people on here who would holler loud if that is what was typed. My guess is that you were probably reading something on another site where idiots run rampant.

Between tonight and tomorrow I "get" to: -write a paper (without data by the way) to present at the International FE Software Congress (ok, that's not the name, but NAFEMS wouldn't mean anything to you guys) -write a 200 word company overview for the same -write a 150 word bio for NAFEMS, Automotive Body Congress and the Automotive Testing Expo -write a presentation outline for the ABC and ATE -write my resume And yep, I decided I needed to get drunk. I can't say nice things about myself without alcohol. I come up with nothing. Hopefully tonight I come up with a lot, lol.

4-18'S 20K Watts Need suggestions on the mids and highs
///M5 replied to tcnotch's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
As stated above that was an installation/integration problem not a reality of the drivers. Definitely the case. There are a TON of great pro audio options. However in order to be "loud" they give up bandwidth and then confuse the people that seem to use them. The real problem is the mentality of those that buy them, not the drivers themselves. And what they are is crap. Just goes to show a good installation can even polish a turd. -
Couldn't agree more with Honda. One other further clarification. You DON'T change your enclosure due to the power you are running. You are misapplying what you've read. Can, should, will, and do are not all related.

Amp and headunit
///M5 replied to Nstickler91's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I wouldn't use an SSF and for $100 I wouldn't use a headunit of course then you'll need an Ipod or the like. -
Rap songs from the early 90's Can't be from too early in the 90's...that's my rap era.

Seriously? You live in god damn Texas, what moron walks before 9pm in the summer? Before lunch and after six pm are perfect times to walk the pooch, even in the summer. Not if you work and have kids. Good luck doing anything before 8:30 then and that evades any personal time you might want or need. Add to that the best time for a dog to walk is before bed.

Why don't you start by telling us how you feel about your current box instead of arbitrarily picking a number.

Congrats dude!

Upgrade Worth It?

It used to make a difference years ago, but rather dubious these days. I didn't click the link but calling Kenwood anything a top performer is funny. To clarify. If you do not here thermal noise from your amplifiers in your speakers with your current deck the 4v will buy you nothing. Hell the way they are spec'd it may not even output more than the 2v you have now. 2-4 isn't really a big change. There is a reason that volume knobs have log tapers. -
I've seen them, they are minty!

4-18'S 20K Watts Need suggestions on the mids and highs

Indeed. Finding the space to do a ported enclosure for those mids would be hugely helpful as well.
