How not smooth and how clipped is that? Why do you care if it is clipped? ie, what are the ramifications that you are trying to avoid at that particular point in time that allows you to make a decision on what to do with the gain knob?
-
You won't learn if you do a 3 way, you will if you do a 2 way....and it will sound better.
-
Winisd is a great tool for understanding free air response on the low end. And Qts is definitely indicative of what alignment a bass driver will perform well in.
-
Probably not unreasonable. Flights nearly tripled in price the past 8 years. There is a check box on Kayak that let's you choose nearby airports and travel flexibility in days. Normally that helps lower the price.
-
You are skipping the fundamental. How do you know it is clipped? How far clipped is clipped? The o'scopes are the cheap part of the NVH gear I manage. Have over $3M of NVH gear...
-
Then you should do a 2 way, NOT a 3 way. It will sound better.
-
Shop on Kayak, then buy on the site that has the best deal. ie, if it is Delta then go to their website. Where do you need to fly to?
-
No, ignore any one spec unless you look at them all.
-
They are overpriced. And designed to be cheap. Alpine F1 status is a good example. Consisted of a Scan Speak Revelator and D2904 tweeter. Retail from Scan Speak was around $650 at the time and the SAME drivers from Alpine were nearly 10x that. Car audio shit is labeled for the car and marked up. Regularly with no design in mind (ie Skarbage and the like). There are exceptions, like what Aaron has done on here with the SSA drivers but they are few and far between.

I did not butcher a pig this winter Normally I do 6 or 8 and let the fam scrape bones

Scheels. Season change should be happening now. I went to school with Brandon scheel. Wish he would have had a hot sister

Or you are going to do what you are going to do regardless of how we try to help. That is what it seems. 3 way and active with car audio drivers is generally a super fucking waste. Even at cost, you have better value in raw drivers. I am sure there are exceptions, but you are stuck on boutique nonsense instead of real performance. Get over that..

Your store is full of idiots.

Ah, didn't get that you meant that. Doh!

And we are going somewhere. I manage a testing lab with at least 4 $40k scopes and 10 or so $15k scopes. I've NEVER once used them to measure gain.
-
Be real specific on what you do with the voltage. Currently from above you haven't measured anything worthwhile. As for the square wave. What is the difference between a square wave and a pure sine wave? And when you find it what do you do?
-
Fit isn't a problem. I've modified all mine a bit to make sure the playability is where it should be. Setup is critical. Just need a different guitar for each purpose. Sort of like tools, fishing rods, golf clubs, audio drivers, etc.
-
I'll add one other comment. For the amount of work you are putting in, the door is the worst place to put the mid and tweeter.
-
You said on axis before and now they are in your door? Those two things don't usually work...obviously fiberglass can help. If they are in the door firing at each other it REALLY changes what you can do in that now you have to focus on off axis response which means your mid and tweet are going to be small forcing you to have a midbass that plays high. As for how it sounds that is much more about material of drivers and install than anything else. For what you are doing, I wouldn't buy a single car audio driver. No way, no how.

The miniDSP is $100 for 4 chn. Does more than any of the processors you are looking at. Simple enough interface that 0 hours of training ought to be enough. It does require a pc though. Puts things into perspective when you look at prices for the rest. The Mosconi stuff is HORRIBLY over priced. Get off the RF bandwagon too. Single order is irrelevant considering how much time you spend in a shop. Pointless to buy a single brand.

I only buy used stuff. Someone else can take the hit

First off your scope doesn't measure clipping. Yes, you are measuring output voltage...but I want to know why YOU ARE and what you do with that information. I realize you feel I am asking an obvious question, but I am trying to help you think about this differently. You have been brainwashed by MECP nonsense which is solely setup for the least common denominator and not useful at all. If you want your installs to be solid you need to UNDERSTAND what you are doing not just go through the paces...in particular when you are pacing in the wrong direction.
