    Welcome to the IHoP

Wait, what? Why? Not enough umph? It didn't do anything right. If I wanted boring and fast, I'd buy a 300ZX or a mid-90's Supra. Both are WAY more fun to drive than the NSX. Then you add a crap interior and it was a joke. Was so frustrated I went out and drove a Corvette afterwards which bested it in every way....and I despise the Corvette.

    Welcome to the IHoP

As for the dream, driving it crushed mine. I was pretty set to buy.
  3. Well I figured German's and Scandinavian's were really only the targets...

Aaron, no worries. The NSX has to be one of the largest let downs ever once you drive it. Absolutely a fucking turd. I seriously couldn't believe how terrible it was.

'Tis a GM. I know, everything I want is out of control price wise though. All sorts of handling kits for the GM's and they are easy to make power on. If the Navigator didn't look like it was designed in 1995 I would have drive one of those instead. Either way, nothing that big is of interest to me anymore. I need to figure out how to afford a Cayenne Turbo. OMG,
  6. I asked about used as you could try something for a while and then transition. Gives you a now solution without much of a financial risk. Not sure what the HD275-D2 is...but between the HDS and the XT25 I am a lot more impressed with the HDS. Both are great tweeters, but personally I like the XT19 better than the 25. It doesn't play as low, but it's way better off axis and a lot easier to integrate as long as your mid can play higher. For flexibility it loses in car. I am surprised with your location that there aren't more drivers for sale. Figured with the proximity to the Seas/Scan plants that there would be some used choices not terrible far from you.

Less heat, more time = better texture
  10. They can work, but have similar constraints to what you already had. Figured there'd be a used set of HDS's or something near you.

    2 6.5" vs 1 8"

What I use would depend on installation location, goals, and compromises. For your situation I wouldn't. That'd be easier to fix....and I don't mean by using the Carbon mids.

    6 15"s 4th order bandpass, redumb loud.

Add some ribbing and bulges for the built in vibrato-ride I wouldn't sit in it... which you can take as a compliment

    2 6.5" vs 1 8"

And the recommendation above to turn the sub up (the LP) so that it plays more midbass is a great one. It pulls your stage back, but at the gain of having your most effective driver playing the frequencies that are hardest to play. Everything in a car is a compromise and this one seems to fit REALLY well within your stated goals.

    2 6.5" vs 1 8"

I wouldn't buy either of the two pro audio mids you listed either. Those are very high efficiency narrow band drivers, terrible for anything less than a three way and usually then have no benefit. We can blame the state of FL for misrepresenting their strength and saying that they "sound good". I stressed the one concern earlier of matching an 8 with a tweet. The other is using an amp for crossovers. If it's a Zapco Ref or Kicker SX with a digital processor then fine, but ones with little dials, no t/a, no adjustable slope and such then it's an idea that will net you an active system that sounds way worse than a passive. Oh, and yes I own a few PA drivers and even for 12v applications.
  16. Anything used nearby? In particular in large format?

    How does your gcon sound?

Great subs. In many situations better than ones costing much more money. Serious sweet spot, in particular in the price per watt range of good amplifiers as well.

    Can't match an 8 with a tweeter.

    Welcome to the IHoP

The power at 3000rpm for a Turbo car was nuts. On paper it doesn't have my Benz, but from the drivers seat it's a completely different story.
