Curious if there is anyway to test my rectifier to make sure it is diode protected. That would take away the need for the relay. Yes, I am all over the board. My stupid ass can't do anything half assed though so I'll probably end up ripping it apart and wiring it up myself. Aargh.

I have no idea what was in the relay which is why I asked. Figured it was possible that it had enough of a rectifier naturally in its circuitry such that it could work and thus the probably stupid question. Any reason why I shouldn't test it? Any idea what the lowest voltage drive it would take? Piggybacking a little rectifier circuit from radioshack for a $1 wouldn't kill me... You could test it. It should just chatter if anything. You can find a relay with a low voltage AC coil just as cheap as the Bosch you have, so I would just go that way. I suppose a chatter might wear it out faster, lol. 8000rpm's and 8 poles will make the frequency a bit high so if the time constant was low enough on the relay I figure it might even think it was DC.

By the way, my friend uses page plus and says that they use verizon's 3g network. $30/month gets 1200 min 3000 texts and 100mb data. I think he said they are about to increase it to 250mb for no additional cost. How do you find these places. Wife just came in and said she wants a smart phone. She won't use jack for data/min/text so signing up with the big 3 would be teh dumb. It's pageplus.com. I think my friend just has another friend that stumbled upon them. If you get her an android phone with Android 4.0 you can easily set up data limits so she knows and you can also download Droidwall (I think) and you can stop all or certain applications from pulling data without your explicit permission. Any low voltage coil should handle that. I've routinely used 24VAC coils on lower voltage. I assume the Bosch is then a coil? Only reason I ask is I have a waterproof one sitting in a box downstairs.

You should get out more often.

Yuck. Listen to a real source instead. WAY better.

Had the revelation at 6am while half asleep hoping the little peni that live in the house weren't going to make me get up.

Finally extracted the wiring diagram for my sled. Slightly confusing being it is an 07 race sled, with an 07 consumer engine & a frankensteined harness. Not 100% sure what I have is right, from a color perspective but at least I know what goes where. Tail light and brake light are currently AC. Since I only have one "bulb" I was going to build a voltage divider on put it on the tail light section and let the brakes hit full voltage. However, I had a thought....let me know if I am nuts. Run the AC to the tail light. It's an LED so it'll just be like a half wave rectifier and automatically be my voltage divider. Then pull a DC lead off the rectifier that powers my gauges and send it to the brake switch and out to the brake light. *alternatively. Any idea if a Bosch automotive relay will fire on 12vac instead of DC? Figure it depends on the frequency and voltage more than the AC/DC, but it's my other alternative. Rewire nothing and use a relay on the brake side to apply the DC. Would be easier to troubleshoot/determine if I could fire it up. I want the suspension in first though in case the engine races and she hops up in gear as that would be disastrous how she sits now.

Had some issues on the V8's and the liners wearing out. Offered and extended warranty to a 100k to cover it. Not sure if there are any skeleton's left. The chassis is nice and even reasonable with only the I6 in it.

Either way it's gay

I'd like to see Audio Precision test the DD-1. Just to see if the algorithm it uses works properly. It doesn't. Designer came on here. Wasn't the intent of the product.

And 99 out of 100 times listeners pick the louder one on the board, not the better. Classic snake oil sales man trick is to play the more spendy units louder. For clarity in case anyone else reads this thread. If ANYONE does a comparison with the DD-1 take it as a subjective test. That piece of gear is useless and anyone who trusts it is equally as useless when it comes to reviewing gear.

I'm not going to ask what sort of services you are used to providing.
