Yeah but it sucks when i spell my whole setup out, with pics, and they can't even tell me the color of the sky lol. Just to be Philosophical - Maybe we don't know what we want , because we don't know what we can get with what we have. Or Maybe we don't know what were missing, because we have never heard a properly tuned SQ setup. . . . My brain just melted from all the meaning that was in those two sentences. ;P But why improve something that sounds perfect? You are being difficult because you think there is one solitary answer to any question. This is FAR from the truth. The trick is to use detail to describe the question to narrow down the answer. If you never narrow it down the answer you could get won't apply to you making it useless & a waste of money. Well i finally found out why i was not satisfied with my sound quality. The decks HPF was set to 100 hz but the subwoofer crossover was at 80 hz , but the speaker amp was set at 75 hz hpf. I did not know what i was missing, until i heard it sound correct. I couldn't even describe why i was not satisfied, I just knew something wasn't there that should have been. That was a kinda impossible situation for me and you i know. But on the plus side, i'm all good now We seem to have trouble communicating ///M5 I notice that member ///M5 uses the word 'YOU" alot. anyone who has gone through a psychology class can tell you that 'YOU" statements put the person being talked to in a defensive position, and they are less likely to see your point of view. "I" statements usually come across as more diplomatic and streamline communication. Heres a link to describe what i am talking about. http://www.humanpotentialcenter.org/Articles/IStatements.html I type YOU because unlike some other sites that are only interested in selling their wares, we want to actually help. Considering audio is subjective that means that can only be done with information from YOU. Get it? The communication problem is all you. And now get ready to be defensive. To me it sounds like your whole life has been a silver platter and you want to be spoon fed. I'll give you a hint. In audio if you won't think for yourself and try you'll never get where you want to go.

You'll get more help if you start your own thread man. And if you proof read what you typed. Wow.

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
///M5 replied to Trent Hari's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
When ripped correctly there is NO difference between a CD and USB. Obviously they can both contain exactly the same digital information. Most people really screw that up though and rip in craptastic settings. Curious how you are hearing your time alignment woes. Considering this is "all" that you need help with understanding what you hear would help us help you. -
Amplifier Gains and Preouts
///M5 replied to MKader17's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Pretty sure Id know if it was distorting to all hell. Right now its loud, and clean. Even though you dont recommend using the clip light its hookd up because its on the gain knob, Came with the amp so I figured why not install it... But I usually only get a soft clip on it every now n then. Just wanted deeper info so I knew it was set "somewhat" right. Thanks I guess you will find out. If you start to get a burning smell turn it down. Really? Thanks for the advice/info. Go to smd and ask the same question... 1 answer - Buy a dd1, Come to ssa and all I get is. Try whatever you think, Turn it down if you smell it.Well obviously, Not 1 bit of useful info... 1/4 say dd1, 1/4 say ear, 1/4 say scope, 1/4 watts/ohms chart and a dmm... I mean if im missing info that you would need to help me out you could let me know. Forget it tho, Ill figure it outGo to SMD and get confused by morons. That place is all that is bad about capitalism. Frickin' swine. Here we are actually trying to help YOU achieve what you need. The real question is what is your goal for gain setting. DMM, DD1 are horseshit. Scope "can" show you good info, although most people use such cheap ones that the information isn't so useful and then the whole fact that it will only work for exactly the level you are inputting and it is dubious at best. The only thing that is consistent is to use your ear. After all it is what determine's what distortion YOU can handle and is the only indicator of driver stress/pre-failure there is. If you don't train it, then you shouldn't push your gear. -

DD1 near Orange County CA??
///M5 replied to Garrett Tait's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Even Steve and his engineer said it sucks for competition. As for normal use, they ran from any discussion of its value as they know it is just a way of making money. -
Food their is great. Best of the 3 choices I gave you for sure.

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
///M5 replied to Trent Hari's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Considering you adjusted only a 1/4 octave and your ear hears 1/3's you are being "sugar pill'd". Removing the cascading filters will surely help as that is never a good idea unless you really need a brick wall in your response. It does confirm one major thing though. Before you spend a single dollar you need to seriously optimize what you have as it is far from ideal in it's installation and setup. -
Can I assume a 60 deg. Center?

I guess there are people dumb enough to waste money on useless things like the Dd-1 in the oc -

Most generous cut sushi in town though. Quality is top notch as well.

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
///M5 replied to Trent Hari's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Build quality differences in head units is generally a concern from more than 10 years ago. Even crap these days can be decent. If you want processing the Pio is the unit. Of course, having it a not using it makes it a bad reason to change to that headunit. There is also the fact that it has enough processing to make what you currently have sound way worse, but in the right hands will definitely be an improvement. Not sure why you just want to buy something. No reason to improve anything if you have nothing to improve. -
Good to see progress Brad. From the layout it looks like an RM worth listening to here not so far away

Sounds soooooo good. Where did you go? Also what were the names of those Italian places you mentioned? Lost them in the switch to the new phone. Yumi's. Bar Lagrassa Broders Pasta Bar Parma is where we ate as it is the most approachable and bringing a dairy farmer A night out to Victory 44 is worth it as well. Sort of a mini-travail

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
///M5 replied to Trent Hari's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I could get that Kdc-997 for about the same price as the pioneer. which one is better for sq (and also build quality)?the answer depends on the installs need for processiny -
House painted. Closet nearly assembled and I think I may be $200 into sushi tonight. Stupid place for me to come hungry

Then get some really thin foam. Can be open cell, closed cell, rubber, doesn't matter. Perhaps some butyl rope would fit. Anything soft that you can fit in between is golden.

Indeed. You need to either massage your constraints or sell your 12 and buy a 10. -

38w (between the legs and my stomach a 36 is too tight in one place or another) 46L jacket at last fitting. I just need to try new brands. Thanks for the Nordstrom rack suggestion. We have one in Tucson that I'll go into next time I am there. J Need to fit your waist, legs I understand as that is a brand issue (Boss won't work for instance), but stomach confuses me. I pictured my grandpa with his pants pulled up above his belly button.
