Motor head opinions needed, got real trouble now....
///M5 replied to altoncustomtech's topic in Automotive and Performance
Even in minty condition that is a $3500 truck. If you could do something for a couple hundred bucks fine, but if not you are putting a lot of money into something that will surface other issues.

I know it sounds to you just like a motor due to the K&N snorkel, but where there is one ghost there are 5. One oversight in this regard and you could have $2k into a new motor and still need to put another few grand into the rest. Not a situation I'd like to be in.

If you part it out you should be ahead. Extra work, but this is exactly what insurance is for. Your Canadian, you can drink straight grain alcohol and function. I don't see the problem, eh

Liability only, don't see the point in fully insuring a 12yo vehicle. Crap, you just found it. Since you don't have it, I'd do what the insurance company would and part it out. Water gremlins will chase it for years. -

If the water was in the road it is an insurance claim -
Headroom is everyone's friend

it would be just as useless

Eeverything is a compromise, understanding constraints allow good suggestions versus the garbage "well I have a....."

Because it is subjective and meaningless. In Hari's situation I've wasted a ton of energy just trying to get him to describe what it is that he wants. He obviously doesn't actually care just think he needs something better because what he has isn't good enough. The ONLY way anyone can help him is if he uses descriptions that DO mean something to describe the downfalls and preferences he has. I asked him no less than 5 times to stop, explained it in great detail even in a PM. At this point, I don't give a fuck about his install and am done helping. Little shit wants to be spoon fed which really isn't going to get him far in life. Too bad too since he has the tools to fix everything but in the end it is going to be a fail. Won't be because of my lack of helping but the fact he is a stubborn spoiled little shit that is unwilling to think for himself.

2 days and counting from vacation from work, the forums, my 2 year old and everything else. Time to drive around Scandinavia in an XC60 enjoying the sites and restaurants. Made some wicked reservations, but my pocket book is already complaining.

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
///M5 replied to Trent Hari's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It is your attitude. You even agreed to not use it when you joined the forum. Read the terms and conditions. If you are going to be a dipshit you'll get treated like one.- 155 replies

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
///M5 replied to Trent Hari's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I've got a comment on the SQ. The next time you use that phrase or SPL I will absolutely stop helping in your thread. I'm not the only one either btw.- 155 replies

Good. That should change everything. Make sure to not t/a to the reflection. These two are pretty related. Until you t/a right and play around it is hard for us to really know what you will like and/or need. Personally I'd always compromise on the staging for the frequency response, but I'd of course prefer not to compromise.

Why would you ever pay for anything with tools like that? HPDE makes nice baffle material. Sure beats sealing the mdf. -
Oh, don't get me wrong I fuckin' love deviled eggs. Just never ever once thought of looking for a recipe for them before. Now you make me want to look for fun variations.

Setting t/a by ear can deceive you. Pretty much the only thing I always use measurement gear for. That is the first thing I'd fix. My question on frequency response was loaded on purpose. Adjusting eq for width has ramifications on the FR. Also why I am not "clear" on your goals. Aiming and minimizing reflections I'd try first. Are you willing to forego the "fitment" to the pillar? Curious on your comment "I think that using a 4" midrange crossed lower than 250hz mounted high and wide would help stage width and dynamics." have you actually played with what you have doing just that at lower levels? Obviously doing what you want with eq to make it work. Really understanding what you are lacking is always the first step in fixing it.

I'll be stealing that recipe for sure! Is that a recipe or a deviled egg?

It works/loads/posts just fine here. I haven't been able to log in for a while Clear cookies and cache etc.? PC has been reformatted since I last tried. I think I know what your issue is. Click on the windows logo next to create account, it will appear with a sign in page that on the right side will say "use regular sign in". Once you click on that it will bring up the ability to sign in. This will help answer your questions in your previous post because I was going to ask the same questions until I looked over on HAF. QUoted so I try this later. Thanks btw. Thanks, it worked

What do you mean by width? Why do you want it? How did you set your t/a, I see you have multiple which makes no sense to me. Understanding what you did would help? What is center to you and why do you want it there? How did you aim your mids and why? Are you willing to sacrifice FR for width? What do you hope to gain with a driver change? How did you set your crossover? Seems a bit strange that EVERYTHING lines up. I've never been in a car where underlap or overlap didn't need to happen. Lots of ways to optimize what you have. Most likely it'll involve aiming and fixing your t/a, but curious as to your goals before recommending action. Beware diyma threads. Loaded with bs lately. Not even going to click on that one...

No it does not. I was just looking around and read great reviews on those "overnight sensations." What would you recommend? I would like to go the DIY route so I can build my own enclosures but if I found a good deal on something built, I wouldn't mind. I made the overnight sensations a couple years back and still use them, but mostly for listening to music in the basement now. They are good speakers for that budget point, yet I believe there are some better options out there that won't be much more. I'm not sure what your goals are exactly, but there are many good designs for DIY. I actually just bought all the supplies to make the Zaph ZDT3.5 yesterday with the current sale going on at partsexpress. It ended up costing a total of roughly $415 for two towers. I can't tell you how they sound, but from what I read they should not disappoint. I am just looking to add better sounds to the living room T for around $1000. The only piece of equipment I have so far is a MJ18 for woofer duty. I will eventually work on the dedicated HT room and will go all out for that. Does the $1k include the sub amp? Wood for the boxes? Or is this a driver budget? Are you using these later in the HT room? Is it 5.1 you need, a stereo pair...
