    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Half the sled is metric, half 'merican.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Every bearing has been replaced, every bolt on any articulating section has been replaced with one of appropriate shoulder, all custom BS has been cleanedup, but DAMNIT I want to ride it. Actually had a shit ton of fun riding Sat on the wives. First time in a few years I haven't been alone and not leading. Had TONS of time to fuck around on every bump, road approach, field, cornice and whatever I wanted to play in. Riding with someone slower and letting them go first is fun.

I am also not so good at keeping things neat when I work. Every night I work means another night of cleaning up re-organizing. It is what happens when there isn't enough space and you don't have the parts you need though.

And feel really stupid I waited to start it. I thought I was selling my house though and really couldn't have 2 stroke parts in my kitchen.

Now if my wrist pin bearings would land I'd be really happy. I'd LOVE to put the pistons on the motor as that gets it "done". Then bearings & seals for the chaincase and it'll be 90% together. New gauges should land tomorrow so I can rewire it. Starting to get excited.

Atleast you are in the warm. Definitely warm. Drank a bottle of wine instead of working on it. Of course all I can do do is undo all the bolts, locktite and torque to spec. It's been "built" for a week or so. Missing a two clips as the rest I needed came today.

Which I will gladly do IF the rest of the sled comes in. That or yank them off the wives sled, lol.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Hoping I get a few parts tomorrow. I have a trip on Friday and am waiting for parts on both sleds. Riding the new one would be super sweet, but basically no chance in hell unless I seriously over pay for some tie rod ends.

Ha, the skid for my snowmobile is on my kitchen counter and the engine in pieces above the ovens. Garage growth ftw.

If she wasn't so slow that'd be sweet. Realize the cultural gap there, but nice try anyway

    Mid-Bass Driver Selection

Beware, flexibility is addicting...but nothing is more flexible than a PC. Having a custom taper via biquad or stacked filters may net you more out of those horns on the low end.

One other thing to think about. No headunit is going to make the horns sound as they can. Need an aftermarket proc for that. Won't hurt your other pursuits either.

I have microwaved quarts of oil to get a car to start at sub zero temps.I remember the days where everywhere you parked had a plug in for your block heater.

    Mid-Bass Driver Selection

Not going to get much below 70Hz even with porting at least and not maintain upper extension. Pro Audio mids are very focused in the range they play (have to be to have efficiency). When are you buying processing? I'd REALLY recommend playing with those horns. Eric claims 800Hz, but depending on your listening habits that may be too much. In particular with limited processing. If you want, I need a miniDSP. Order one, try some setups and then send it to me and I'll pay for it at that time. Just don't fuck it up. Before you do though let me know as I may order 2 more...
  17. I too would sell what you have and buy something else. Really should only be out the shipping that way and the results will be far better. Model both in WinISD and you will quickly want to change drivers The question above about Home Theater or music should really be answered as well. The "design" you have is tuned low for movies, but IMO for that purpose could be even tuned lower (driver dependent of course) at the same time it is tuned lower than necessary for music. With a Large, Low tuned box/tube you will also need a SSF if you are to watch movies playing through it. Some of the audio content on film these days is absurdly low and can rapidly damage drivers otherwise. For music it probably isn't a concern unless you find the 11 on the volume knob regularly.

    Bad news for the IA80.1

You are really good at summarizing your own faults and trying to apply them elsewhere. Good luck with that in life, lol.

J also has the advantage of 12's that will actually reach up to 1kHz rather nicely ON AXIS. Obviously a compromise as is everything audio in a car, but that is where you are right now. Simple will require more of a compromise so it all depends on how far you want to go.

The right sub enclosure for home studio use?

Every studio I've worked with we've measured in situ and the designs were then adjusted. This means an iteration in your box and some measurement gear, but it'll really help nail things down. Be a rather good learning experience too. We've always taken it a step further though and done room corrections, but that requires measurement gear that is extremely cost prohibitive.
