    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

    Teaser
  2. Didn't see any plots on the Eton. Considering it's cone material it probably has a nasty break up mode which is difficult to tame and so it is restricted to the lower end of the spectra. Peak at the plot for the Seas W18 and you can see why you normally cross it to play below 1200Hz. You will also notice that even though you can measure distortion it isn't always listed. In Zaph's test he does though.

Well you've got ultra loud and sounds like shit from 10k+ which is about as useful as having a sub that plays really well from 10-15Hz. At full out ripping levels on the sub, no way, no how are you going to keep up with it with a small budget. In reality it takes significantly more money to make 140dB in the front stage than 140dB out of a sub. Of course, both will make you deaf fast too.

Locations, budget, etc needed to help. Supertweets have no place in 2way audio ever.

If that means buying a different tweeter sure, if not then you are being misled and spending money that is more or less wasted.

Really a great little midrange. Soft on the top, but some eq and taming can make them play nice. Where are you using them?
  8. Either will be more than fine. As for what I'd pick, that depends on the mounting and pictures would really help.
  9. Once you listen to a Rev you won't like the classic Scan anymore and the Rev doesn't work well in a car door. The Fostex also is a unique driver that has no place I can think of in car audio at all. The ER I recommended before will smash both of those in all aspects IB in your door.

One HUGE reason. They HAVE to be ON AXIS. If you can do that and are willing to say fuck the passenger that would be rather close to what I'd personally do. Revisiting my needs and reflecting on yours may not yield the same conclusion.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Cute kid Don't run the Exodus that high. If you run a 3 way you can get something that digs WAY lower and use a VERY cheap tweeter on the top. MOunting locations will determine all options though. I would rather run a two way system. Let's say max budget is 160 for mids and 160 for highs as maximum budget. Is there a better option that Ex-Anarchy? They seem to be quite the performers. I can get the tweeters/FR's/whatever on axis, but the mid will be off axis. There's only so much I can do. What do you suggest Sean?mt locations....Going to build fiberglass cups into the A-PillarsGoing to depend on you. I hate recommending full rangers and a midbass to others. It is the right solution for me for sure, but I listen to live jazz and talk radio mostly. Both hugely benefit from the ease of voicing most of the spectra through a single driver. There are surely other negatives, but I am personally a big fan. Part of this relates to the compromise of a 2way in general. The gap and separation between a tweet and mid is brutal. Made absolutely worse for me since kicks will never work as my enormous feet just won't let that happen. A 3 way with a cheap tweeter and a robust 4" though would make me happy as well. The first portion of the spectra I would personally eliminate is the "sparkle". It is a fun exercise to play music through an adjustable filter and start to roll things up and down and see what drives you nuts and what doesn't. Depending on what that is may influence your decision and/or my recommendation.
  12. Sorry, I was going from memory. The 26 is what you want, the textile version was lackluster in comparison. Aluminum does not get harsh naturally, it takes a poor designer and a bad installer to do that. These are NOT harsh at all. Upgrading the amp is always a good idea, but just ignore 4ohm drivers. Generally speaking they are not the right idea and actually have way more cons than pros. The other compromises you'd acquire looking for a 4 won't net you anything positive. You may be very surprised at their output on your now 25w amp. The XT19 is great off axis. Do beware trying to play it low though. I sold my set a while back, but think somewhere in the 3k range they started to not like things. The LPG can play down to about 4k. *in somewhat normal installations.
  13. 8ohm mids work better 99.9999% of the time. Meant 25nfa, been a while since I sold mine. They work way better off axis than the Seas, but the Seas plays lower. Considering your mounting locations I'd focus more on FR than staging. Everythings a compromise. The 3/4" Ring radiator is great off axis as well. Tons of options in large format though. Advantage of going that route is you can regularly get nearly as good off axis, but lower extension. I am a big fan of the HDS tweet, not as good off but hey again you don't have ideal locations so what do you do.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I don't think the Countach was ahead of it's time. Basically a Pantera knock off cleaned up nicely Italian style.
  15. Large format tweeters have a larger flange than 2", but it's flat. Will that fit? If not, a budget, easy to tune setup that would work in your locations would be the LPG 25 & Seas ER18
  16. Ha, if you trust your h/u output to be that...you make me laugh. Either way, if you have no time just amp the stock speakers and cross them over high enough to where they don't struggle. Gain them conservatively and do something right in the end. "keeping up" by my definition with your sub will require A LOT of work. Getting 130dB out of a front stage is NOT trivial. I realize you just want to hear the music. If it is temporary, be smart and just grab something used you can offload later for what you pay.

Depends. I can't tell from your post if you bought a midrange or a midbass. Processing will depend a ton on what the third driver is. Can't really run a supertweet in a 2way if you want ANY fidelity at all. At the same time, if you think you are just going to run one mid and one supertweet per side you should sell the supertweets as they won't do anything good for you.

    Cadance CVL-5K mid bass

Do you already have drivers? Curious why you picked those ranges if not... The set you asked about sounds like a bad option for what you've told us so far.
  19. It SUCKS using amp crossovers. Almost not worth it. Based on the parameters you defined, I'd keep it simple. ie, paper mid, tweeter that plays off axis well (ie won't play low so the mid needs to play high) and replace what you have. 80prs will trump the miniDSP for you IMO. Adjustments at the deck is HUGE when you are first starting out (read first years...). Without something like the minidsp (which may require line drivers) or an 80prs I wouldn't attempt active. Can you fit a large format tweet in that location or only a small?

Did you check Silestone? Yes $65-$89 a square foot. I designed the wc system at cambria. Cool facility

Need a link or a hint... Didn't even realize its not there 2006 Raleigh Cadent 1.0 It is a throw away, I wouldn't spend more than $50 on it.Thanks, considering that is 1/8 there asking price I'll leave it alone and look elsewhere.ha, that is what they paid when it was new....
  23. On an airplane about to take off. Summarizing the crossovers on your deck would help but I'd guess you will need to use part of your 3 bills on processing. Going to need mounting locations and likes/dislikes of the hertz set
  24. PWX's are an awful choice. FE6 is not an exciting driver and NEEDS a ported enclosure I realize you want to get loud on a budget, but as with ALL installations of ANY driver knowing the parameters and restrictions of the install space is step one. Processing if it is determined doesn't suck to know either.
  25. ///M5

    Let's Talk Tweeter's

A few comments. Don't blame the tweeter on the installation. Blaring is a fuck up on the owner, not the product. Time for a math lesson. Why would 25w not be WAY more than necessary? I'd bet you haven't given your current tweeter coils that. Yuck. The last place I'd EVER want processing is in my amplifiers. Boo. I want gain blocks with NO adjustments, would be the best amps ever IMO. Start with your goals. Your misconceptions are making you look for the wrong things altogether. I do agree with a search for new 6.5'.s Getting some components would be a logical step.
