You didn't go to seven corners then. They have everything. Either way, homemade circle jigs are awesome and simple.

setting gain with dmm car on or off?
///M5 replied to audiohz's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
For me, I've always set my settings at their "maximum" listening state. Because, the state of listening, can always change. And you always want to be able to turn down, not up. To give an example, you would set your gain level on your amplifier while the bass level on your headunit is set to zero (car on). That way, when you're driving under normal conditions, you can set the sub level on your headunit to -3 in this example. So when a buddy gets in for a demo, all you have to do is set your sub level on your radio back up to 0. Why leave something on the table? You can set so that at full tilt you are clipped like hell. Just use the volume control to compensate. -
Sweet. You up North then? I live in the cities so mine isn't quite stretched that far, just a 136 Intense setup for ditch banging. More akin to your new sled than your old

As for the pitch, do yourself a favor and listen to a sine wave of 1kHz and a square wave. That will become self evident. What you read on BCAE you are misapplying. -

Please share how you measured distortion on songs you have. -
Overkill on the mlv not the cld

3 way active before 2 way is a sure fail. Try a 2 way first

Thought I'd scare you into posting something more useful so we can actually help

Damnit, stop

Under the dash and by the windshield? Wouldn't that be on top of the dash? Scrap the whole component idea if you are doing a 3way. You should have a mid bigger than a 6.5" and using one out of a comp set will be a MAJOR fail. Tweeter and midrange should be next to each other as well. From what I read your proposal will sound worse than just running the comp set alone. Much worse.

...and will depreciate I was underwhelmed by that car. Severely.

I don't think so. It is priced about in the middle, already riced out with dubious mods, and has high mileage. Add to that a crappy taste in color combo's and nope. Yay, automatic *puke*

It isn't even hating on Soundstream, just a reality that the PRIMARY benefit of running active is to optimize the setup. First step this means install and by install that includes picking drivers that are appropriate for each location and mounting type. Using all of one brand completely throws this out the window. Add to that you are picking a car audio brand to then do this to and it is even more dumbfounding as the designs are compromises and dubious in general.

Challenge? Don't you have a circle jig?

Umm, no...again. You have yet again completely missed the point. Gains can be set, but music can't. This means you get to adjust your potential overall output level on every song that is recorded differently. Therefore on or off it doesn't matter as you still have to listen, which of course is the point of a stereo so that shouldn't be so hard. You are mixing things up even we tell you. I don't see how you came to the conclusion in the first quote when stating the dynamic portion of music and different recordings. At least you are listening here a bit Of course the focus on "taking it" or "properly driving a speaker" though is confusing. The whole purpose of setting up ANY stereo is to make it sound good. When it starts to sound bad something is wrong. That really is what is important here. Who cares about clipping if you can't hear it? And yes, there is really no such thing as no clipping. At some level it is happening and at some level it is not discernible. From a damage perspective it can raise the average power, but there is no real method for ensuring you don't overpower a speaker without listening, smelling, and watching. What the?? Tone change octave? You want the first harmonic to be larger than the fundamental? 5%, ROFL!! Seriously, where the hell do you come up with this nonsense? I know you work at a confused store, but do they not know anything?? 3/4 is also pointless. See my post above. If your headunit is clean at any certain level it is fine. -
you feel this way because of my current head unit? explain why? I realize my current head unit will not work. By posting specs on a head unit that has absolutely no active capabilities whatsoever and asking about it clarifies the fact that you aren't ready for a 3 way. In fact you should expect that a 2 way will sound WORSE than a passive for at least 6 months of tinkering. A 3 way will be a complete and utter mess. It is far from trivial.

It wasn't even that new hardly. I paid $900 for a Delta Unisaw that was 2 years old with a Biesemeyer fence. No blades, but I wouldn't expect a used blade to be worth a shit.

Almost easier to find greek style here than normal....thank god.

There is a better chance of a comet hitting earth today than you eating something gross, especially if you made it.I just couldn't figure out how you would get a boiled chicken to that yummy level. It wasn't really boiled though. 170F water isn't boiling. Poached. I regularly do that to chicken as it is darn near impossible to have a nice breast otherwise.
