Umm, that isn't what you are hearing. Wrong conclusion. Perhaps describing what you hear would make more sense. And yes, if someone at work helped gues what? If you happen to have bought the HT instead of the ST, well good for you, you just wasted a ton of money as well. Missing the whole point of a 3 way which is to buy a dedicated driver that is GOOD at the frequency range you will have it play. Buying a compromised car audio driver that is meant to work with a sloppy passive crossover in a 2way set is about as far from ideal as you could have for a 3 way. Could do better with a $20 Dayton. Either way, it is not going to work out nice. Seriously. The more you post the more I really think you NEED to buy a passive set. You are getting so confused at work and ignoring any and all advice given here it's absurd. If you made $200k/yr then fine you could deal without the $, but considering where you work I doubt that is a reality.

I keep finding nice ones...that are AB so not "efficient" so I don't link them. In reality in that power range it isn't like the draw is all that bad. Is there a reason you need the efficiency?

+1 I will eventually. I just don't have an exact time frame. But I can only afford one thing at a time, so I figured I could possibly get a 2kw amp first because I may still be able to power it stock or with just an upgraded front XS battery, I can always turn the amp down though. Next would be an alt, and then I could add in a second xcon.. I eventually want 2 12" zcons. I'm just trying to get electrical before the extra subs because it's too hard to have subs that I can't use sitting in my trunk. Backwards, IMO. Completely. Instead you'll have an amp you really can't use versus cone area that you could. Even worse if you buy the alt too as putting 2k on one 10" xcon isn't going to gain you anything but an empty wallet.

Yikes, no. Sure they should be close together, but when not you can't just assume you flip the phase. Hell I don't think I've ever owned a vehicle where all the drivers were wired in phase....never that lucky. You seriously should NOT use the Fountek and that Tweeter. You aren't ready for an active 2 way more or less a 3 way. Seriously STOP. Everyone that is helping you elsewhere is going to net you a really expensive 3 way that won't sound as good as a set of $100 IA components run passive. And YES it can easily be that bad.

And Matt, I hate to tease you when step further...but will. Buying now for a FF in the future doesn't make sense for one other reason you are forgetting. All the L lenses are getting reworked with silent focusing mechanisms for video. ALL. Long term they cannot make the noise they do as professionals won't use them that way. Invest in things you can use and sell, not in things you think you will need down the road.

Between people walking by and such it made it easier to pick up drop and set for that band. Lens wasnt heavy but with consistantly changing light it helped having a steadier surface than free hand did. As for a mini tripod, they do make one footers. J Okay, good. Doesn't help with the shot but getting ready for it. As a walk around that isn't necessary. Even a 6" Gorilla pod is okay, but don't expect to hang the 2.8 70-200 on it. The other spot where a tripod with a nice swivel head is a must is when shooting video. Vibe compensation can bite me compared to a tripod. Almost impossible to even shoot at 50mm without one.

It helps to reduce the amplitude of your wobble, but it doesn't stop it. It can help with some sports too. Soccer game for Jr or bike racing. It just keeps the camera closer to ready in those situations. Again, just helps hold weight. Stability is not really its advantage. Tripods are great for low light shots and longer exposures
