    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Ha, caffeine doesn't really affect me. You don't notice the shake. But the camera will at the long end of 200mm. I didn't believe it until I started shooting pistols regularly. Your natural pulse causes shake. It's pretty logic, but amusing, how close shooting a gun and a camera are. I have a 270mm. Familiar. It has IS, but it is only 5.6 at the long end.

Yeah I wouldn't be using one. How are the TBs on the top end? If you could snap your fingers and add a tweeter to the top end would you? No, if they needed a tweeter they'd have one. Sound better than any bookshelves I've ever heard. If you aren't ON AXIS though you'll need a tweeter and then the whole design is flawed.

I am fortifying mine with a sub, but only because I had a True Fire sitting still collecting dust.

Always in the same spot? If so, I can't say enough about the TB W4-1337's I am running FR vented in my office. I don't imagine I would be moving them around for any reason, so I'd put them where they sound best--whether that be on the desk or on stands on either side. Mine point at my ears. They HAVE to.

Ha, for now. Long term it will go to what all lenses do. 2/3 of MSRP. I am too stubborn to jump in before then. Sure they will do an STM motor next. Probably 5 years out, but that'll drop it like the other 2 should be now. The sharpness I am not so worried about. Well exceeds my patience to shoot.

At that price it was probably physically beat. A minty one of any of the three types used is fine with me. Just want something I can sell for what I pay.

With the rebate and package I got, New was less than used FWIW.No brainer. For this trip, I was really thinking of grabbing an IS F/4. Find one of those used and see how I deal with it, but then I realized a non-IS 2.8 is about the same price and not much different in weight size as the IS is a big chunk of that. Figure it is better glass so as a temporary try it out solution it'd be good. Lens authority had an ISii 2.8 for 1500 or so. Used, but a several day return guarantee. Then I'd just buy it. I just haven't seen any local.
  12. Seriously though on the FT1. Anyone who is running one has zero idea about audio. Remember that as you read build threads. Even worse when they run multiples.
  13. Yes, but that isn't at all why I answered what I answered. As long as there is reasonable build quality in an amp, an amp is an amp. If there is no overheating problem or ultra reliance on stable voltage then a smaller one will always win for me. I have three of the PPI variant (Polk actually) amps in my boat and I trash the living crap out of them. No reason not to buy if they have the power you "need"

  15. Even at the same price I'd buy the PPI over the 800.4. If this is your first active setup, I'd spend less on the drivers as the learning experience can create both blown speakers and an enlightening experience that makes it difficult to like whatever you bought. I'd also recommend that you buy something simple and forgiving to integrate. A set of local CL used component set with paper mids and silk tweets would be a great start. Use them, determine what you like and don't and then upgrade. Nothing will "keep up" with your subs. Cone area isn't something you can overcome. That being said you can still have something that sounds great with an 6-7" mid but just don't expect monster midbass.

I just want something I can flip and use. Paired with my 17-55 I'd have everything I need for travel...in particular with an extender.

No IS is a no go! Sean you want IS. And if you can get over the price, you want the IS II. With kids in sports, you really really need it if you can afford it. And you can. Have you ever been to Jax Cafe? They have a dimly lit back room for events. I took amazing shots that I could not with anything less. I will bring the MKii on Tuesday. You will be shocked. It's is the fastest to focus and the best IS I have tried. And I tried all the 70-200 from Canon before I shot my load. This isn't a permanent solution, just temporary as I want to snipe on some unsuspecting locals in asia. Not buying a II IS before then and a I IS is a no go. Bet I use it 90% of the time outside as well.

http://www.zaphaudio.com/ might find an idea or two there. im using the 3" hivi fullrange set for my computer speakers. they do an ok job on their own but you really need a sub. sean is running tang band w4 titaniums full range, iirc. i run them in my car in a 3 way. really sweet speakers. PE has the overnight sensations kits as well. https://www.parts-express.com/overnight-sensations-mt-speaker-kit-pair--300-706 Yeah I've thought about the tang band titaniums and bamboo, but not sure how much midbass they would have on their own, or what to pair them with. I'll check out Zaph, thanks. Ported they have a lot of midbass. Of course depending on your listening style. I am an upright bass player. For instance, I am listening to Oteil & the Peacemakers right now. The rest of the band ain't my thing, but Burbridge is insane.
