At this point I despise Windows 7, 8 is world's better. Of course IOS is WAY fucking worse than 7. No idea how Apple is actually in business. If they don't come out with something new they will start dying.

If it is a 24/7 machine I'd buy an Enterprise drive. Was too cheap myself to do that. If you do HGST's are the best by far.

I've had good luck with the Western Digital caviar blacks. I've had three blacks fail in the past 3 years. After that I switched to only buying locally.

Read this first, if you have questions ask away. All day every day I work in the frequency domain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Fourier_transform As a fundamental definition, it is a simplified tool that turns a time based signal into the frequency domain. ie, it will turn a sine tone from a wave form into a single peak.

The high frequency was an assumption on my part.He is a bee keeper, and is trying to further understand the dynamics of his colony, and how they communicate. He was looking for a tool that would allow him to study this. Thanks for the article too, I will pass it along to him.JTons of University research on insects. I've worked on many. The tool should start with reading. Trust me I have pushed that to him. He's a good guy, just thick headed and likes to experiment for himself instead of taking research as gospel.JCan he read an FFT? I couldn't tell you if he can or not. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is an FFT? J Fast Fourier Transform. If he doesn't know what that is rather deeply a microphone and or laser will do him ZERO good. Actually, even if he does a microphone will do him almost no good as separating noise from the sound he is interested in is FAR from trivial.

Start buying local. Shipping a hard drive is something I'd never do.

Working on a technical paper for SAE NVH 2015. Have another exciting one too, but can't disclose what it'll be on until I publish as it needs NDA approval.

Guess I should have stopped back in the thread, can't believe the over reaction. That's OSB (Advantech flooring). Ooooooh, flexy. Also this thread isn't to start a pissing contest aboutf lumber, but to show off my Zed amp build in the Zed sub-forum.Nor was my response. Never said flexy was bad in your application. Love the amps, would never use the material. Has no reflection on acoustic output at one frequency though. I personally don't care about that. Testing yes, not in a box just as a material. Application doesn't determine usefulness, but the material properties can define what will work in what application. Testing in a specified application will only color the results as it is very hard to make a reproduceable test. Talking to someone gets you dumb advice like you might hear at SMD. Actually trying to understand something on your own works much better. This is something I deal with everyday: Boeing, GM, Ford, Mercedes, Apple, Google, Samsung....all pay my company and buy equipment from us to do material testing. Structural integrity and modal response is something I have a keen knowledge on.

And as a reference, that article was written utilizing about $120k worth of lasers.

That isn't high frequency though, so I am curious as to what he is trying to accomplish.

Sure. http://www.polytec.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/Applications/InFocus/Full_Papers_1_2010/LM_AN_INFO_0205_E_Dancing_Bees.pdf Not so sure you want to try to measure the "sound" but the source of it

What you are trying to do is akin to someone trying to track a full size cargo van in a class of Lotus 7's and claim that they want it to be different. Worst part is you expect it to work because you've seen dipshits elsewhere try it. I also fail to understand how monkey see monkey do leads to "different".
-
You guys are ready know...I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to anything bass....remember I'm one of the people that is monkey see monkey do... If you want to try something different, why not try something that works. That would be different. So many stupid people running bandpass boxes that are major fails it is absurd.

Not even in the same ballpark.

ie, suck ass in comparison

Her husband Ingvar taught me to drive when I was 6. Had me drive him to town, lol

She had a good life. More concerned about my mother. She was with her literally 24/7 for the past month and left on a trip. A few hours later Eris passed.
-
Died 3 hours after my mother left for Istanbul. Going to break her heart
-
Was a second mother to me. Took care of us while my mother battled cancer.

RIP Great Aunt Eris

Starkey will make custom molds for any earbuds or supply them with drivers. All depends on what you "need".

4th order BP, tune to 35Hz, and competing makes ZERO sense. ZERO. Has uber fail written all over it. No way, no how should you be attempting a BP box.

I would LOVE to be rid of my HVAC controls though. A solution for that would allow me to put in a 15" screen if I take that out. Would be the bomb.
