The downfall of a Calendar in Outlook (or whatever syncs wtih your phone) is that most people put non-time critical events in a calendar which is time critical. I work from lists. Regularly these are on paper as I am a doodler, but there is never anything ultra time critical on those lists. Those things I do first thing in the morning.
-
I'd MUCH rather use my phone/outlook than a Franklin Covey thingee. What do you use? Just outlook? I cannot figure out how to make it useful for me. What do you want to keep track of?
-
That shell I linked btw I have no idea of brand wise. Fabric is only one aspect of a good shell, but a HUGE one. I just looked for eVent.

I am not a fan of zip in stuff. All separate layers gives you more flexibility and warmth. Sometimes it is the most cost effective mechanism for purchasing. Has a snap flap and pull cords on the bottom. <---Rides in jeans and tee. I meant the 3in1 portion. Even if it "zipped" together, it is warmer and better separate.

This, the most fun I have driving is in the E30, it may not be the fastestestest car I own but its definitely the most enjoyable The answer is always Miata. E30 >> Miata NEIN!!!! Never ever ever ever ever. *I hate E30's* Drive them back to back Only jackasses drive E30's and E36's here. It's so played out, it's unreal. That's the only reason I hate them. I have a natural hate towards anything BMW because of who drives them here in Romania. Here only women drive Miata's

This is NOWHERE near warm enough on its own, but it is fundamentally what I wear around town for 99% of the winter. It is a down sweater. I pay about $100 each for them on sale, but they are one hell of a midlayer for when you are doing nothing. http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/microtherm-reg--stormdown-trade--jacket/38832204/_/A-ebSku_0880848907000050__38832204_catalog10002_en__US?showProducts=&backToCat=Jackets%20_%20Vests&previousPage=GNAV&tab=first%20ascent&dcolor=135 Obviously an 800 fill thick down will do more good if you are really cold blooded, but I only pull that out on days when it is UBER cold as I sweat my ass off.

Something like this for a shell: http://climbhigh.com/index.php/rab-maverick-jacket.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw-8ihBRD2t9qT3NaW7igSJAD3_sNVhQYBSBqoP7rDk7U5RmkkNJpgOrArfRZ0P6Hx6_-5wRoCoj7w_wcB You'll still need a mid layer then for really cold days.
-
Absolutely. Merino Wool is the BEST base layer. Just make sure it fits snug. You don't want air gaps to ruin the beautiful material. You may find some clearance items cheaper in your size. Finding talls is a bitch. The fit shouldn't be underarmor tight, but not far off.

You get a rebuild kit from a Snap-on truck. If you snap the handle you buy a new one.

SO? Bahco? never heard of them.... SO = Snap-on Bahco = Spanish Snap-on

Side by side: *obviously not my pics, but from the thread that led me to think about them
-
Don't think they actually make ratchets, SO makes them for them.
-
Seth/R2 What about Bahco? 6950/7150/8850 all use the SO dual 80 ratchet guts and rebuilds (72 on 1/4 obviously). "Made" in Spain for the Euro market. Chrome and shit isn't as pretty, but seems to me a logical compromise in particular when they are about $35 each.

My whole jacket consists of that shell and: Base: http://www.smartwool.com/clothing/baselayers/mens-nts-mid-250-pattern-crew.html Mid layer: http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/expedition-weight-1-4-zip-baselayer/23150129/_/A-ebSku_0310385100000080__23150129_catalog10002_en__US?showProducts=111&backToCat=&previousPage=SRC&tab=&dcolor=100 *obviously the mens which is still out of stock so I can link it. That is ALL I wear when riding at -20F. At that cold I up the ultralight long johns and shell pants to include a zip in insulation layer in my pants. You'll notice, no mid layer. My mid layer is a base layer. Goal was to create one big wicking base to remove sweat as fast as possible. The Arc coats breath 2x as well and would help. My pants are eVent which breath better than the Arc and are sweet. Any shell you find in eVent is seriously worth considering.

Got it for $115 too which was a HUGE fucking score.
-
White didn't come in tall either.
-
I've never paid anyone
-
If they came in talls I would have, too short No talls!!??!!!!! Fucking bullshit! What did you get then? I prefer tall myself and I am only 6'2 This in black http://www.polaris.com/en-us/snowmobiles/shop/apparel/fxr-for-polaris174-zone-mountain-jacket-keith-curtis-kc711-edition/pid-2864141

For activities where you are making heat and moving or for sitting still?I'd like something I can use for both. Or a good under layer to wear in addition to the jacket for when I'm sitting. I need something to shovel/work outside in, and something for (for example) sitting in the cold watching my son play football. I can't afford 2 separate jackets unless they are like $100 each.Which one do you want to compromise on? I'd rather sweat my ass off when working than be cold sitting. Really I don't do much "work" in the winter, just shoveling when it snows. Otherwise it simply needs to keep me from freezing my ass off. Down. Problem with down is that it isn't warm wet. If you sweat it won't work. Shoveling would be a problem if afterwards you sat outside for 2 hours.
-
Sweater and a shell will do it. IF it is a wool sweater.
-
A wool midlayer is $300 (which is why I wear a synthetic one as I paid $50). A nice shell is $250-400 as well. And the bummer is that sitting still that still won't be "warm". Quotes because it'd be fine for me down to zero with not a ton of wind, but colder and not so great. I am regularly outside for extended periods of time at sub -15F and need to account for that. In IN you shouldn't have to, but like yourself Matt I am probably ok at -15 with the same gear that Brad would be at 10F.
