what makes it horrible?

Internet wise I forgot. The kids do watch Netflix. I suppose that takes some bandwidth, but it is all download and it shouldn't be a concern at 8Mbps which is guaranteed. (80% of 12 supposedly)

Mostly pissed about the cable bill. Costco is really making Direct TV seem cheap. The wife needs a bunch of channels. I "need" the Food network and local sports affiliates for Wild Games. Outside of that I watch nothing.

I don't EVER watch video, play games or do anything that requires bandwidth. The extent of my usage is opening web pages, browsing to our server (and downloading but the files usually are under 20mb), and occasionally listening to Pandora

At night the cable slips below 12 though

12Mbps 1.5 up for $29/mo Cable is 25Mbps down and 3 up for $60

I have no house phone. Haven't had one since 1996, lol.

That includes Cable and such. Not just internet.

The stock dash in that truck SUCKS for anything in the pillars.

Century Link is the local provider. They also claim to provide a Static IP which is hugely helpful for my work router.

That all being said, I am contemplating switching to DSL. I NEVER game, but do use VOIP. Need a reasonable connection and am SICK of the $150 cable bill. Anyone want to talk me out of DSL?

I have an RT-N12 and my IT department trouble shat it today. Recommendation is to buy a new router.

Passive installs generally do better right next to each other. Might help tame the tweeters a bit too as they will be really far off axis. Could make them lackluster.

Hand calculations are about as easy and you'll learn way more.

Further compounded as I don't have a static IP so every now and then my connection to the world goes to hell.

I suppose I can test by removing said router. Just started happening a couple weeks ago though. Will be with our IT next week so I am going to inquire firsthand as well.

I may be helpless, but not that helpless. Multiple reboots. There is another problem though. I can't get Yahoo mail, Gmail, or my Exchange mail on my phone when connected to it either. I get a Proxy error. To be fair, the router it is plugged into (acting as a switch) has a direct connection to Germany and our HQ. If you turn on Automatic Proxy detection it will force all web pages into German.

We have the same router I am pretty sure. I have not installed DD-WRT as I have no idea what it is though.

But if I was at a different webpage and went to SSA it takes 8-10.

Once a page is loaded it is quicker. A post from reply to showing up here is about 3 seconds.

For instance it takes about 8 seconds to load Gmail from the Google home page. That is not Mbps but maybe 56k, lol

Does it need a hard reset like all other PC shit? Seriously, should just fucking work. Aaargh.
