Wait, what? That doesn't make sense... Are you saying it was expected?

You guys don't know salt, lol. Crystal build up on your paint is not unusual. When you have 3 weeks that it is too cold to wash (car washes here close below 10F usually) and then get to wash you will get old and frumpy waiting for salt to erode with only water. Higher pressure >>> rubbing. NY (especially upstate) will give you a run for your money. It's all either salt or sand, and its salt 95% of the time. Nothing lirke seein a black truck that is white and slush brown on the bottom 3/4 for a good 7 months a year. J Any place that has weeks in a row not busting 15F is sure to use a ton of salt, lol. Those are the best weeks for me to put on miles too as 2 strokes LOVE the dense air.

If you changed mechanical scrub to a force to loosen the dirt then sure. Now the question is what is more damaging a force that instantly washes away that dirt or one where you then slide it over the rest of the paint. It is the pre-clean and rinse stages where I find the pressure washer the most helpful. The rinse is for convenience, the pre-wash is the most gentle way to remove the majority of the garbage you are trying to get off.

You'd rather rub the salt off? No way. You'd rather blast the salt into your paint? You don't rub salt unkess you're using just water. Rinse the loose shit with a hose, then wash with car wash. The detergents encapsulate dirt, salt, and contaminants, and the rinse washes away. It's that simple. Then why does hand washing seem to scratch the paint?Anytime you touch the paint, you scratch it. Washing it . Will scratch and degrade it. There's nothing you can do to stop that. All you can try to do is lessen the damage and protect it inbetween cleanings.Rinsing is better than rubbing. Once you add pressure than you can say whether you are rinsing or rubbing the lesser pressure is better. At the same pressure I'll take a rinse over rub any day as by default you are not pushing the dirt around. You can't remove dirt and contaminants by rinsing alone. Clay performs the same way as washing. It removes contaminants by encapsulating them in the clay. You need a mechanical action to capture them though. It's the same with washing. You need the mechanical scrub to loosen the dirt and encapsulate it within the detergent bubble, then rinse away. Washing your car without scrubbing is akin to claying your car by just setting the clay on it and picking it up. You can absolutely remove dirt and contaminants by rinsing alone. The worst thing you can do is rub. Dabbing is 1000% better, but I have no patience to dab away dirt on my car. I treat paint like I would fabric. What is bad for one is bad for the other. Obviously the paint is a lot harder. Some general rules with removing stains from clothes are: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER rub and use a lot of fluid to flush it. I treat a car the same way. One other huge benefit of a pressure washer is the operator interface. Pull a trigger and get water. Not only is it easy to turn on, but very directional where you want it. Pressure is also easily controlled by distance.

Still too high, and even dumber for using it on your skin. Anything over 30psi and you can create an embolism. What is 30psi at 10'? I realize I have a lot more than that, but if it hurt I wouldn't use it on my body. Was trying to relay how my washer is setup.

I should clarify, it isn't like I am using 4000psi lol. I have a really wide tip on a really shitty 2400psi unit and stand back. For a power reference, I use it to clean my hands and feet/legs off when done too.

Ask yourself if you're okay with the film from tge detergents drying on your paint. Indeed, you have to be really quick to have that not happen. I spend too much on gravel due to the inlaws and find that when you have a really dirty car it does help the high pressure water get the dirt off in my rinse. That and it is fun. Other than that it doesn't really benefit the wash in a way that makes it a must buy. Spend the same money on nice towels, a mitt, good soap, buckets, strainer and such and you are better off. A high pressure water source is a must IMO though.

without a pressure washer they are pointless. I use one, although it does not speed up your wash at all. 2 bucket wash is still 10000% necessary.

Is that as in obscene it?
