woot Can't wait to have the Miata up and running again so I can go for some late night hooning Hey, wtf Matt. At least warn me I should watch when you post a link. I normally avoid modern music, but I'll watch a Pantera anytime!

Depends on what you want to prove. I'd do FLAC, 320, 192, 128 and call it a day. I skip the 256 only because he won't hear a difference at 192. After down converting them, re-upconvert them so that they all are the same size on the disk and in the same format. Keep a key and then let him tell you what they are. As for songs, tease him. Use songs that HE knows.

And yes, I am covered in orange pumpkin dandruff

Chinese carbon is CHEAP though

That and after 22 years I am buying a new "mt" bike. Year rounder though. Perhaps buying isn't the right word, building may be. We'll see. Nothing finalized yet as I have three more models to test ride.

Have some pumpkin seeds roasting in the oven. Smells awesome. Because the kids picked what I cut...obviously

Mike beat me to it I'm sure.

What is the budget $400-$600 will buy nice masks. I can look around tomorrow morning and see if there are less expensive ones.yikes. I don't have a budget but will say the $20 ones look like shit. The big problem is there is really nothing in between. I was looking here at work and could not find anything new of good quality under $400. Maybe eBay may have something used in you price point. Thanks for looking. I should have figured. Curious if there are typically local stores you can buy the real ones at? ...or are they all mail order? I have a HUGE melon

Neal - where do you get a real mask....but not a bank killer. ie, I don't want a 1mo open specialty store piece of crap, but I don't want an uber mask either. Mostly looking for something comfortable that I can wear year after year.
-
I have been less nice to it since I have a recone sitting here....it won't die.

In that box I'd pick the Icon and turn the gain down....or if you want to be safe the Xcon is the next best response from the group. The Q/SSD are fine, but Icon > SSD and Xcon > Q so it somewhat tells a story. They are all just "bass" though so it is pretty easy to make it okay from the get go. On second thought if he melted the Icon, I'd go Xcon. I throttle the shit of the one in the boat with a clipped like hell signal, let it rot floating on the water all summer, and store it in a barn in the winter and it keeps POUNDING along.

The bl 12 looks out of scale compared to the other, and I'm curious as to why. It looks as it should in the SPL graph. The xfer function just shows the potential mechanical gain. Not even sure what WinISD uses as a baseline between enclosures and that could even be inconsistent (which would be dumb IMO). If it looks normal in the SPL graph (which is power & processor [if you enter it] compensated mechanical xfer function) then you are golden. Just ignore the other plot. The lack of flat response is no surprise as the ripple is "desirable" to most regrettably.
-
You are also on the least useful plot. Xfer function is not how I'd ever look at anything

It is hard as shit to see anything. What to you is jacked?

Yep, going from 1500w to 2000w is not audible so don't chase numbers for a non-competition vehicle.
-
I can't figure out what you mean by jacked up, lol

Is $300 some sweet spot? I've bought my last ones for a lot less and they've been fine. I don't do much with them however.
-
That sounds like pain for a while

Conveniently for me, I did some shopping not my wife. Had to buy some more copper pans. Collection is almost complete now!!

I should have guessed. Chicken soup + tomatoes & chile. Thought perhaps it would be more SW'y. Sad indeed....in particular that somewhat thought that anything Keebler is even edible.

In the market for new 6.5" speakers

I am NOT saying Focal chose well, but the exercise will help you understand what is going on and better prepare you for the active setup. -

I made that sentence confusing: I wouldn't use your amp crossover for the tweeters. I would measure the stock focal crossover to see what it is doing. This will give you a baseline for the future and somewhat of an understanding of how you need to setup the amp on the ER's to make them blend. Just need a frequency generator (smartphone app funcgen) and a DMM. Measure until you find the 3dB down point and you will know the crossover point. Then measure an octave lower and see how many dB you are down and you'll know the slope.
