  1. Gcon is a bang for the buck beast btw
  2. Btw, the Kicker box is crap from a design perspective...no way there is enough volume for that many drivers, not even close.
  3. If the shape is complex measurements and a picture help. No need to have a square box. You are definitely now heading in the right direction! Generally speaking polyfill is useful for stretching a sealed box, but not so much on a ported. Not that it works differently, but modeling, predicting, and testing takes way longer and is far from straightforward. In your shoes I'd definitely build a whole console. Contemplating doing the same in my Escalade although it wouldn't house a sub, just better storage and dash integration than stock.

I never even used to run them here. Up North I never had any because I couldn't afford them. Chicago they are 1000% unecessary as buying tires for 3 days of winter is joke. My theory on the Escalade is simple in that I will wear out at least two sets of tires, so having optimum ones is logical./

Yeah..... Thought it was the R class. Even this: ...is not a minivan. It's gross, but not a minivan. I could see my W driving one, but it would be a waste of a great motor.

That is a minivan. It is German town and country. Is it dope.... Maybe... Never been in one. But it's a minivan to me. That is an E class. You drive the BM'er version of it, lol. If it were the R class then different story. IMO the wagon looks WAY better than the sedan in the AMG.

I only lived in Chicago for 3 years though. Drove a bit over 200k mi in that time though.

Snow tires are fucking awesome when you need them. Needing them in Illinois though isn't something that would ever cross my mind.

That and the interior is nearly as dated as my Escalade....the new CUE interiors though are garbage as well. REALLY wish they would pay attention to BMW & AUdi a bit more.

This is sexy too though....and affordable, but needs some work so it isn't so slow My memory is that I don't fit so well in those...like worse than a new ATS

No Benz on the list. The one that could make it is: Part of me really wants a wagon.

Partly pissed because nothing I want fits in the category of affordable sedan wise. I was all set to grab GT350 and use it as a daily, but the more I think about it the more I want my work car to be the car I use 95% of the time which means I'd really be better off with a 4 door. Worst case a GT car with reasonable backseats. I'd also prefer RWD and not AWD. Cars on the list for investigation: new CTS-V, modded last gen CTS-V, BMW 550i Dinan S3, M5, ATS-V, Charger Hellcat, CTS VSport + chip, Chevrolet SS, BMW M3, Lexus GSF, Porsche Panamera S, Hyundai Genesis, Jaguar XFS AWD 4 door: Audi S6 & S4 2dr: 911 of some vintage, GT-R even though it is AWD, Aston Martin DB9, Camaro SS, Mustang GT350 Trick is to figure out how/what I can lease for close to $700/mo. If it goes over it's on my dime. I have this complex about spending even a 1$ of my money per month... Most of that list on first perusal is closer to $1k/mo so I am going to have to get creative. Amusingly the car that fits the budget the best on the list is the Aston....if it doesn't break.

Me too, always have. Figured they were atrocious for repairs, but it seems the Ford era ownership fixed the reliability and put the parts cost inline with an American car instead of an exotic. Pretty sure there are monstrous exceptions on it, but the reviews say I shouldn't be that worried.

I'd rather have the coupe...but there isn't one in town. Curious if I fit. See a bunch that are within realm of my lease requirements. Supposedly not terrible maintenance wise either....but I'll find that out at Morries.

  20. And the IDQ is terrible for your needs. STOP reading wherever you are, it is filling you full of useless information. You do NOT need line driver. COMPLETE waste of money. It will add NOTHING to your sound. The only time you EVER need a line driver is if you have thermal noise. That you won't know until things are installed, but as long as you don't buy a piece of junk amp it will not be a problem. Seriously, STOP searching for equipment. You currently do not have a choosing equipment problem, but a figuring out what you can do for a box problem. I feel like a stuck record, but I can tell you from history how these threads end. OP builds a box, it is nowhere near the measurements he thought and the purchased sub stinks in the application. Pretty much happens in 99% of threads that go this way. We are trying to help, let us!
  21. You said you weren't sure on the box and the limits. We recommended you mock up a box. Measurements and reality aren't so coincident for those without a ton of experience. No matter what you need to make that box as big as possible, otherwise your goals won't be reached. Btw increasing 10" to 20" after 5" doesn't really make much sense... Return the line driver. It will do nothing. You are reading at places that are completely confused. Your ideas on the boxes are better than a measurement guess. Get out some cardboard. Doing this up front will be HUGE in how the end result is.
  22. The best thing you can do is start to train your ear.

I will admit it is borderline. As for what you should do, you need to determine your exact space. Until that happens it is pre-mature to shop. Mock up a box like I recommended before. It would have taken way less time than the online shopping you are doing and wouldn't be based on false pretexts.
  24. The 8W7 is an exception. Unfortunately it's sheer mounting depth and need for a net cube when vented make the "little" driver occupy the same space as a conentional larger woofer in most instances. It is the best 8" on the market though, no boundaries given. And based on the box size needed it isn't an exception. I wasn't saying there weren't good 8's, I'd just never use one in a single ported enclosure in a car.
