Westone's website sucks. Did you mean dual material to have a more solid tube and a softer interface to the ear? I do prefer my softer plugs for sleeping and use the hard ones just in the yard or with power tools.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I would also like to avoid pulling a Seth on these. They will always be used in a shitty environment and not a listening space so there really is no point. It is really hard for me to do that though...

The Shure/Etymotic format are interchangeable which is the other choice. Start with some SE215 and be able to upgrade. Other than that, fit is king and sampling anything is better than nothing. Good rating from someone who could have been paid off on his website, but whatever...at least in that case I can listen to them. S/E I would imagine to both be good options as I've done work with both companies and they are definitely monitor first and I'll take accuracy in IE for sure. Westone I haven't interfaced with in about 10 years, but have been in the building. Bummer for me is I already have some Starkey plugs which I could also use if I shop around, but I like having two sets of dedicated hearing protection as well.

Exclusively due to the fact I can walk in and listen to a few different things and get fitted. ie, local. Didn't hurt that out of the sub $400 ones they had the highest score on the headphone list. Figure between that and local it would be logical to check out. They also recommend their $250 for guitar/bass players which is more in the range I'd prefer to top out my expense at. After all, the source will be my phone/laptop so having anything too stellar will quickly reach the law of diminishing returns...if these aren't already way beyond that.

Matt - Thought about the Alclairs? Being they are local I am somewhat biased. Thought about calling them this week as I have a new found need for CIEM's. I am going to race the Tour de Tonka this year and need to get in shape.

    Zapco Amps with DSP

Unless they have new amps (real possible) their old ones do not use a miniDSP, but that is irrelevant anyways. Nothing special about the miniDSP other than its bang for the buck. Flexibility is nice as well. All that being said, you need to determine what you need for a DSP and make sure it has that as options. I personally would love an all in one solution as the simplicity would be nice, but the flexibility given by being able to run any form factor amp that fits the space and having everything taken care of elsewhere usually ends up trumping that for me.

I normally kill on my windows when I stop using my pc for a bit. Just to log in I have to go to the home screen 2x, the login screen 2x, then back to the home screen. Just annoying.

    Site playing games with me?

Yep, on all 3 of my computers and my phone. Regardless of whether I am logged in or not. WTF?

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

The website is now super annoying. 6 refreshes to log in. At least it is repeatable. I can't start anywhere but the home page and have to refresh every screen 2x.

    Minidsp

Yes. No rears, 2 way fronts that are chosen to work in YOUR specific mounting locations. A single minidsp will run the fronts, but you'll need a second for the sub. Materials on drivers are completely meaningless. DIYmo is useless since Ant bought it years ago, just boneriffic choices thrown out now, much better to focus on your needs and capabilities than to get consumed by some subjective nonsense. You need to figure out how big of a driver you can fit in all the possible locations you could put them and then way the differences. 2 possible options. A midrange and a tweeter or a midbass and a full range driver. If you try the latter you MUST have the FR driver 100% on axis or expect it to fail. If that can't happen, then there is one choice. 3 way is a mess. Just checking all the phase options takes a while, lol.

    Minidsp

We need more information... No idea what you are trying to accomplish atm. Btw, scrap the rears as they are completely useless and will just ruin the sound and not help it.
  22. Stop typing books without the information we asked. NO ONE can help you without it. Pretty sure there is one or two simple settings you have completely jacked which screws everything up. Trying to trouble shoot with general terms is impossible. It would be akin to you asking a mechanic to trouble shoot your car over the internet and all you tell him is that you have a car, this cars brake pedal goes down 60%. What is wrong?

Sealed Vs Ported which is best for SQ

Front stage is where you need to focus, that is HELL in comparison.

Sealed Vs Ported which is best for SQ

The one that integrates better with your front stage....for sq the bass part is uber easy

Hard to watch a live recording...I also don't consider TV or Computer a mechanism for "viewing" musicians.
