Alright I have some poo to post. I don't feel like starting a thread in fabrication and I don't feel like reading a bunch on f'glass posts to find my answer. How the fvck do you sand the body filler in the little areas, for instance around my kickpanels. I have painted and repaired a few cars, but the features that you sand around on them are huge in comparison and I surely can't use a sanding block. My patience runs thin with these details... Also, I had originally planned on wrapping them in vinyl which would make the finishing easier, but is it realistic to expect the vinyl to conform to the same areas that I am having a hard time sanding? If so, since my car is black I may try ye olde spray on bedliner and see how she looks first.

The fvck will be shutten up. Are we back to the hummer comments from before?

Congratulations! Your GF will deal, sometimes space helps a relationship more than spending time together can. Especially since you are talking about finishing your coursework in December. It really isn't that far away!!

Well the Excel's are uber sexy looking with that copper phase plug! I will definetely give a subjective review and perhaps quantitative as well as I should have my analyzer back shortly. I made a bit more headway tonight. First layer of bondo on the passenger side and I reconnected the drivers side to the newly shortened footrest. Here are pics. Now I just have to figure out how to sand such small features in the body filler, ergh! Can't really use a wood block... Oh, and one other thought. My sub box build-up was my first glass project, if anyone else is learning I would modify a kick or door panel first. It is so much easier and faster. Of course, the finishing work might be trickier. -
Amp Choices for 3 way: lots of old school

I assume then you mean the RF is okay? If so, as soon as I can get my glassing finished in she goes. -
Are you going to share their contents?

One step closer! I should be able to put the final layer of glass on this evening, and if I am lucky the first layer of bondo as well. Here are some updated pics: Pic 1 shows the first test fit of the baffle/kick face in the car. Also you can see the interference that the footrest would cause. Pic 2 shows the shortened footrest Pic 3 shows the shortened footrest in the car (not glassed yet) Pic 4 is the passenger side kick Getting somewhere now! -
Time to go and huff some more F'glass--wheee!

Amp Choices for 3 way: lots of old school

Chit, I left the best extra amp off the list. I even found my old birth sheet for it. This is of course what stemmed me to place the post in the first place. I have an old RF Puch 150HD (build date 9-16-1991). Birthed at 190 w/chn 2ohm otherwise rated at 75wx2 4 ohm. Would this sound okay to drive me tweeters? My understanding is that it is of vintage enough to still be a decent piece, but want to make sure before putting it into my car especially since it will be playing from ~2k+. The footprint is the right size too! -
Looks great, would love to hear it.

Mostly bad picture, there is a good 1/8" around the baffle to align the kick too. Underneath they are pretty roomy, just not a lot of clearance to get the driver mounted. Plus you know me, I had to overbuild the baffle. -

There is about a cuft or so in the fender they will be able to breathe into. -

True, but then I should sell it and get a 2chn instead of 4. -

My only problem with that is I run out of amp mounting space and 160w x 2 is way overkill on the tweets. I would prefer to run the mids of the 475 though. The bummer of course is my PG M25 died which would have been perfect -
Nice work getting rid of that fabric. That is one of the things I have never understood about Japanese cars, they all have really weird fabric colors.
-
nah got it from a local fabric store. I think i paid $5/yard and only got two yards, was more than enough btw if anyone really wants and if $5 or $6 per yard is a good deal i can probably pick some up some time for you. i say 5 or 6 cause some of the other styles were $6/yard (they had a tighter backing on them, i didn't like it personally cause it bunched up even more than mine on corners) Sweet, I appreciate the offer. I will try the local fabric outlet in Brooklyn Park and see. I assume that basically you buy the one that looks good and stretches the most?

Decided I had to remove the foot rest until the rest of the pod was finished and then reattach. Just laid glass down on the baffles into the kicks, here is a pic of the cutouts without glass. -
Hmmm, just realized I never signed in on the Newbie Sign IN. So for my 225th post, I thought I would say hi! Obviously I didn't read the Newbie instructions...
