I realize it isn't possible to use a true measurement mic, but I am sure that the db variations from pressure sensor to sensor is well more than the uncertainty that they show the score to. Reporting tenths of a db is just a bit silly in my book. As for the headrest variation, what we use for doing Sound Quality testing on vehicles is a Head and Torso simulator outfitted with ear canals and mics in each ear. Deadly setup for being accurate and repeatable, but again at $25k I know why they aren't being used in SPL comps.

Lol, i always get a kick out of these comments. If you want the most legal, meter at the headrest. Afterall, that's what YOU hear when you play your stereo. I don't see too many people sticking their head in the kick or on the windshield and saying "damn, thats loud" That and the repeatability and consistency of the measurement mics they use is a joke as well. It should never be XXX.x db's. Ask any acoustician and they will tell you measuring tenths of a db is not real. The environment can change that quickly, and they use $2k mics with $2k+ power supplies not even counting the analyzer. IMO if it isn't a Bruel & Kjaer or a real competitors measuring device it is weighted strange. That and they don't use C weighting on measuring their response curves. Anything over 120dB should be measured with C weighting and I do like the headrest idea. I actually know nothing about competitions as I have never witnessed one or been to one, but in my previous job all I did was measure acoustics with a $100k analyzer--which I still have regular access to

Curious to see the NFL draft ramifications of the UT win.

Sorry Jntar didn't mean to make you close the new SQ car thread earlier. It is just hard to have a nice reaction to someone when they say that you don't know what you are talking about--especially when it comes to wrenching on cars. I drive 50k miles plus a year and do my own wrenching. Needless to say I have owned a bit of everything and of course am pretty opinionated (sp?) because of it.

Where I live we call that a ResRunner. Not PC, but regretably a true scenario. Some of the reservations up here are nuts. Whenever MN makes the news for shootings in schools or nutso kids it is almost always off the res. Of course, seeing something like that in the city would just scare me away from wanting to know who was driving it.

If you find one let me know, I could find lots of good uses for the stinky ones. You don't need to get a card, just give her one of those pepperoni sticks right out of your coat pocket. It will get you azz anytime! Just don't set off the light when giving it to her.

I use synthetic and change every 3k miles, but I am a nut and if my motor goes it is in the neighborhood of $8-15k depending on what actually dies. For that the oil changes then seem cheap. If you really are only going to do it 2x a year, definetely run synthetic.

Good idea, that looks nice!

Welcome to SSA, you will like it here.

Just gonna step out and look at another house since the d1ck I made an offer to on New Years Eve is ignoring me. I am shocked, it is a for sale by owner and the owner won't respond to an offer?? Aargh, hopefully this one is nicer!

KVM Question: USB to PS2 converters??
///M5 posted a topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
Alright here is my dliemma. I have an office in the room next to my living room. Recently I moved my desktop pc into the office closet (well ventilated) and ran a monitor cable into my living room where a wireless keyboard/mouse and my lcd are. In my office I have a laptop and docking station. Since the computer is now in the office I would like to make the monitor and keyboard in my office be able to control both computers so that I can burn CD's, rip music, and just generally be able to get at the box without running back and forth. My thought was to go to a KVM switch, as there are some cheap ones from Newegg for like $15. The problem that I am having is that my Razer optical mouse is USB only and these are set up for PS2. I was under the impression that I could use a USB to PS2 adapter but can only find them in the PS2 to USB variety and not the other way around. Does anyone know where I can find one of these and if it will work?? -
Did you move it yourself? That sounds like a beyotch...

Yep, hard to work on. Lets have a contest to see if you can yank the head off of a Maxima faster than me on a 3 series Bm'er. I will even let you just yank one of the two and see. V's are always harder to work on and ARE NOT intrinsically balanced and NEED balance shafts. Straight sixes do not need a balance shaft to be internally balanced. IMO V6's are always a bad idea I6, V4 and V8 however are great.

either that or you aren't trying hard enough

Hope you have a great Birthday!

KVM Question: USB to PS2 converters??

Well, that works for me. I owe your brother a check, I could just add a couple bucks to it? At least it is my understanding you are bro's. Still need an address, or confirmation that the one on the box is right. Thanks for the shipment too! -
Ouch, need to show the beast more love! The exhaust sounds much better
