it is good, real common around these parts.

I might go in October as well.

Not just right now, but through all history. Regretably that is how you build a company, the goal is to get big enough to get to some mass where you can start to dominate some portion of a market segment. You just hopefully have to pick the right segment to be a part of. The only disgrace would be to leave your roots customers hanging.

I like the "floaters" D.

Gotta step out and see a couple customers. Thanks again!

Raymond you da man, thanks for the help and reassurance that I am not nuts.

I get like 33.7Hz for the RE enclosure

I am glad that we at least get the same numbers...thank you for the help.

I did find this: The last type of vent is called a slot port. It is created using one wall of the enclosure as a wall of the vent. This can be very useful for bandpass enclosures which can be very hard to tune to a low enough frequency due to the small size of the front (vented) chamber. Friction created by the air flow in the enclosure traveling along the enclosure wall makes this type of port effectively longer than it physically is - which tunes the enclosure to a lower frequency so a slot port will be shorter for the equivalent vent area when compared to a simpler square vent. which explains the differences but doesn't say how/why to calculate them differently.

I do trust my hand calc of 40.5" the most, but when RE publishes about 30" it makes me wonder....
-
Even still if the area is the same shouldn't they be the same length?
-
That is what I assumed as well, butwhy the difference in length in the calculator...
-
I bet they are jealous, it looks great and I am sure sounds great now too.

Quick question for you box freaks out there. I have only built round ported enclosures in the past, but want to do a slot/square for the RE10 that I bought from Eldo for my bro-in-laws boat. My question is what is the difference between slot and square ports--the friggin link is broken. And also what value should I use for the length. By hand calculation R=A/Pi Lv = ((1.463x10^7)(R^2)/(Fb^2Vb) - 1.463R I get 40.4" when using a 10.5" x 2" port. My confusion lies in that the calculator on http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 states different lengths for slot and square ports for which I see no difference. And also the recommended enclosure by RE yields a port length of only 30"s. I based all my calculations on the RE recommended 1.25cuft at 30Hz with a 10.5"x2" port. Here are the two calculators using carstereo and the RE. WTF??
