I replaced the wire on mine a while back....mostly cuz I set it down on the cord while it was still spinning. Funny thing is that it was my grandpas and he had done the same to the same spot once before. His just took off the jacket, mine completely severed the cord.

Since you have "tons" of room using a behringer is out I suppose. I think you can get one for about $250 with the 12v conversion, but it is a full 19" rack mount beast.
