You made the e-trek over, welcome!

yeah I intend to do just that. The frames I'm looking at are about 130-150 just for the frames alone. The mattresses are a lot though, they are about 200 bucks. So I'm trying to keep the comfort of my bed, just downsize a little. Even $1000 futons aren't anywhere near as comfortable as beds. The only real way a futon is comfortable is if you take the mattress off and put it on the floor. I'd just get a bed or if you have one use it.

Congrats on 500 & 1000. I perhaps shouldn't have called it a race but a friendly drag.

lol..serves you right. everyone thinks h-d's are slow, and for the most part, if they aren't 1200 sportsters or vrods, they are. but it doesn't take much to make them breathe. maybe they won't get crotchrocket fast, but they'll run with the highend cars. example, about two weeks ago, i got into a roll on race with a viper. he just couldn't figure out why i stayed at his door. topend would be all him though. bu midrange, where we were playing, lol. i probably made him a bit deaf as well, lol. and mine is only 95in^3, with 205 cams. if i had a 6spd tranny where i could close up the gear ratios a bit, i would've gotten the viper, lol. but i'll settle for the draw. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I knew I wasn't going to win when he pulled up next to me, told him that before we went but hell if I am at least not going to try.

With your budget you should really go the Alpine route and get an H701 as well.
-
In your budget even with "adjustments" passives are a bit of a joke unless you have everything optimally setup in your car. Paying someone to do this could be a half order of magnitude greater than your speaker budget pretty easily. The truth of it is if you pay someone less than $500 for the installation of your front stage and buy $800 passives, a set of drivers that you spent $200 on and ran active could easily sound significantly better. Going with a 2 way it isn't all that difficult either.

Of course not, fun to see how much I'd lose by though.
