that shouldn't happen, I thought half of their purpose was to be stackable.

Sounds like either your mechanics are idiots or you got a lemon.

Scott's guess of a decade was pretty much dead nutz on.

I don't live in Fargo though. I may have been raised within 2 miles of Fargo, but haven't lived there in years.

I'd love to see an NS boner.

Budget and goals?

You also need to really tidy up that wiring. Remove the fuse and do not use your system until it is safely fixed.

Two actually. 1) Get the pair of Maw's 2) Dopey's post is useless...again

Most people are dumb.

I looked for the dumb dopey thread but didn't find them

Happy Birthday!!

It is if we weren't plotting in dB but in sound pressure. By definition a linear response in a dB scale is logarithmic.

And holy shite Tom. Thank you for the care package. You personally will cause me to post a bit less for the next week or so while I read. Good reason though. It will be returned after I read completely and copy what will be useful in the future.

Really that is what I expect when I get together with my friends. In particular the breaking shit makes no sense.

Won't be the most effective way, but bang for the buck it would be better than component sets you could buy for the same money.

Just finished my 19th trip this year.

Not someplace I have been in a while either and with the way I travel that is saying something.

When will these be tested for effectiveness? Probably never. Standard tests are about $600 per sample and I can not figure out a way to even prepare specimens in a way that would be fair. How do you compare the effectiveness of a thicker mat to that of a thinner mat? Use the same area? Same mass? Who knows. It seems to me that the best we can do is extrapolate effectiveness from material properties. To a large extent, mass is a determining factor - if it doesn't melt or fall off, it will do some good. Beyond that, we know that butyl is viscoelastic. That adds effectiveness. We know that the thicker and stronger the foil, the more the product will stiffen the panel and the greater the viscoelastic effect will be. There really doesn't seem to be a generalized "all things being equal" testing structure that will let us compare to a standard ideal. It is pretty easy to measure damping, frequency shift and of course the modal response of a structure, but since you can't mass load it further you will have to use a laser vibrometer instead of an accelerometer. You could also do acoustic transmission loss tests on it as well.

It feels a lot more high tech than Magenapan in their plant. Maybe one of these days I'll be lucky enough to tour both of them and see for myself. Hell, I wonder if they do internships! I am pretty sure if you didn't care about getting paid they could have you do something.
