Tell him his SQ sucks when you hear his system.
-
The phase isn't just for inverted subs, I'd switch it and see what happens you may like it you may not. LPF should be set around 60hz, if your front stage needs more reinforcement or you lean to the bass head side of things you can turn it up. Anything above 80hz makes me sick to my stomach, but some people run them as high as possible since they have the most power on their subs. That doesn't blend with anything then though. The gain you can set by ear as well, but if you are timid the tutorial is fine in your case since your amps will do power.

I do fucking hate wallmart
-
Wallmart. Buy a really cheap camping mattress that says "closed cell foam" on the packaging. Should cost you about $10.
-
You don't need a capacitor. You need WAY more mat than 2 of those kits, I'd recommend at least 10 of them probably more. You really should just buy a roll. Raamaudio or SecondSkin are the two choices. I would scrap the coax's in the rear and put the money into any other part of your system. The most logical place is the front stage. It will sound way better.

Welcome to SSA!
-
Welcome. It sounds to me like you need to look for a headunit with active crossovers and time alignment.

One other thing, that OEM 10 while not geared to be loud in a sealed environment should have no issues fulfilling the role as an SQ sub in a setup. In particular with the 1000d on it. IMO you should sell the sub or run it ported.
-
That is sort of contrary to your statement in the OP. Perhaps you want to be into SQ, but really want some bass. One other comment, if your doors aren't deadened significantly you can't play your comps below 75Hz anyway. Even then I am not sure those Rainbows can take anything lower than that at any sort of level.

I am one that will say drop the rears and spend it on the front stage. IMO if you are stuck on JL a pair of w6's is way better than the w7, but there are a lot of other options. Do you have a budget? I am also curious on the Focals, have you listened to a set? Lastly, I am a bit curious as to where the tweeter will be in the 4 runner. edit: you have left out sound deadening which is REALLY important
-
I'd WAY rather have the Sundown
-
metal tweet eh? is your installation on or off axis and from the stuff you had before which way was it? obviously I am a bit wary on most metal drivers, in particular those with passive crossovers.

Go George, most intelligent thing I have heard him write.

yea yea... tried saying that one to her too. didn't work. I asked her. Why is our viper quieter than your camaro if power =loud? viper?

sounds like a plan . Snook fishing tomorrow night woot woot I was feeling all good about bass fishing until you said night fishing for snook. I took my buddies dad out tonight (who lives in Punta Gorda in the winter ) put him on some bass, but had a hard time getting them to bite his line. Mine no problem, I put myself in every bad angle possible to help him but still they come after my bait.

eff work, I am going fishing

The depreciation hit I don't like either. I like to buy things that are worth what you pay for them a bit down the road so that I can change things up. Sort of the beauty of building a car, it will end up being worth more than I have into it.

Your a black guy to me.

I am 6'8" and while it looks fun, I really doubt I could drive it comfortably. R2 is right as well, I am looking for what has now been termed a pro-touring sort of car. A backseat is also a requirement as is a non-convertible even though that could change as I am open to a convertible hard top. Perhaps I am mistaken, but for me the top is for road noise comfort. I plan to drive this car, perhaps to the tune of a few hundred thousand miles as I will have it for a while. In that process I don't always wnant to hear the wind ripping around.

Scott, yep hot here. Not quite a hundo, but in the mid-90's plus. Pretty much has been non-stop for the past month+. I'd keep it so you can revert back to stock. I didn't think I'd sell the M, but it will be gone in a few months. Aaron, I refuse to take the depreciation hit that either a C55 or RS4 would have.

I was actually thinking the other day, that I have never owned a car that has enough hp for me. Oh well. I am working on that

Depends on what is causing it to go out. If you lose bearings they can squeal or of course make the belt squeal if they are tight enough to cause slipping. I can't imagine that the brushes are squealing though.
