Looking to make my own Comp set

The Seas Neo is a winner. I would much prefer an active crossover when doing a diy set, unless you have some real measurement gear and the patience and know how to use it.

    Welcome to the IHoP

well, it appears a search on the Camaro forum gave me an answer general consensus is stock spindles/lowering springs over dropped spindles/stock springs Are you sure? Everyone I know recommends changing spindles and shocks because when you change springs, you change spring ratio and lose some comfort. People have had clearance problems with the dropped spindles, and the stock springs could stand to be a tad stiffer. I'm going to put new shocks in it eventually. The thing is that I can change them without having to completely take apart the front end again so they can wait a bit. Also, while most of the stuff is 40 years old, the shocks are only about 15 years old. Whoa big fella. Slow down a minute, I wouldn't take the Camaro forum answers nearly as much as ones from a few other places. This outta help a bit. Here is a link for you from a well known Camaro handling guru: http://www.pozziracing.com/first_gen_suspension.htm Either way you should really decide the end that you are trying to reach and make sure to take only the steps necessary to get there. Changing from the 6 to the 8 alone is going to require different springs, but either way yours are shot as they are 40 years old. Your bushing are crap, your arms are stressed and the stock shocks are useless. If you are going to replace it all you should really look at matching the whole works together and it will also need to match your drivetrain weight as well.

well, it appears a search on the Camaro forum gave me an answer general consensus is stock spindles/lowering springs over dropped spindles/stock springs Neither. You really should do SLA's, aftermarket springs, and spindles. Depending on how long before you order, I can give you all sorts of pics of my buddies 69 firebird which is currently almost in primer.

Perhaps with time good sir. For now, I'm saving up for a SBC and 5 speed. Handling is like a front stage and a bigger engine like a subwoofer. I'd pick the frnot stage first. I don't think that metaphor is exactly correct..... what's handling mean if I can't even accelerate out of a turn? Go test drive a lotus elise once. I know it is unfair as the stock corolla engine is a bit snappier than your 6, but nonetheless it will open your eyes a bit.

I'd step all the way to coilovers, but of course I am a bit jaded after spending a couple hours in the QA1 booth at summer nationals and being invited into their plant to potentially help them improve their rebound/compression measurement techniques. They make wicked shit though.

Personally I'd take it a step further. Tubular SLA's with different springs, shocks, and perhaps spindles. In the case of your car there is good aftermarket supprot and parts so all of the above are real viable. IMO it would be a shame to not do something to it, after all it wasn't exactly a collectable or barn burner with the 6 in it. Perfect car to cut up and take to the next level.

They aren't at all similar. Specifically they don't sound at all the same. Take a step back, what are you tyring to accomplish?

holy effin sweaty. Boat is fixed, except of course the two livewell cartridges which take four crimps to install. Those I need to pick up on my way someplace. I am gone until Monday though so no hurry. Also have to drop the seat off for fresh vinyl.

I wouldn't do downfiring exclusively because your location isn't permanent. You might find side, back, or front to be best and of course all of them can really be the same enclosure. Go big and go sealed!
