  1. Two part answer to your headunit question. The first part is simple Physics and the other Psychoacoustics. Your volume control knob does have a pretty exponential output, in the sonic world they call it an audio taper potentiometer but really it is pretty much just straight exponential. Part of the reason why 8v outputs are completely unnecessary on a headunit since no one runs them full throttle anyways. To talk about the other reason, we need to extrapolate on the 3dB perceptibility point. In back to back comparisons an average human can actually hear 1dB differences, but once you add the time factor and memory to be involved 3dB is better than what the average person can tell this timeblock of course is completely dependent on the individual but has been shown with nearly any other stimulation that it is pretty short. The caveat is of course a trained ear can be significantly better, typically this requires years of study on an instrument and has been proven that Musicians can regularly exceed these ranges, but the opposite is also true.
  2. Your car is so clean it has to be a blast to work on. Nice work mang!

    Budget 6.5" Componets $200

I'd do DIY from the get go. A pair of CA18RNX's can be run full range until you get an amp to go active with. Getting a robust tweeter than can use a simple 6db passive temporarily would be fine as well. For ease of crossover/installation I'd pair it up with the Peerless HDS. You are at your budget and will have an unbelievable nice set of components when you finally upgrade to active. Until then it will still sound better than any $200 component set anyways.
  4. Your list is easy, Sundown. The Memphis is normal, the Hifonics borderline crap, and the newer US Amps don't give me the warm fuzzy the way the older ones did.

    MAW 12/15 Dilemma

I'd do the 15 sealed, but mostly since I'd do sealed either way. Realistically you should let your car choose for you. The box you have to compromise the most on is the one you shouldn't use. Do a better job of measuring exactly and let the space determine the driver.
  6. I personally use way more port area than that on my Rli8.

    Head Unit Advice

I vote 880. 1Hz is way finer than necessary, although more adjustment than the ones given in the 880 would be nice. An 8v out is completely unnecessary and doesn't do anything. I see the separation between them as really the L/R eq on the 880 which IMO makes it the only choice out of the 3.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Tonight, nothing. Tomorrow, probably pull the headliner & deaden up there, then go to the branch because large chested woman from the picture I posted a couple weeks ago requested that I come. Sunday, probably make the false floor for the trunk, then Rider game Monday, sleeeep all day. Riders better be winning. I started looking for tickets to the game about a month ago and there was hardly any left then, so I've resorted to a lot of beer on the couch. False floor should be interesting. Nope. Think closer, if you have time, I can bring it down for your ears to discern as well. I am quite strapped for time again, but there is suddenly a distinct possibility that the girlfriend and I will be going up to Saskatoon for a night or more. I'll keep in touch with you on that one. By "think closer", are we talking Blue Bomber closer? Putting some speaker enclosures together, going to a football game, finishing off the alcohol I have in my freezer, not in any particular order. If you do the third option first, options 1 and 2 will become a lot more entertaining. Not that I condone using power tools when drinking. I'll condone it for you.

nice work dude I'm 21 and I come to work every day thinking "why don't these people work harder and/or smarter?" I guess that's life at a government job! Better you learn that at 21 than 45 when most people do.

Hopefully one with a reasonable calibration. Every six months it gets its maintenance & calibration. Good. Curious what dyno time costs up there?
