In fact that would be way worse, your thread it titled SQ. First and foremost you really, really should not run more than one driver playing a particular frequency range.
-
That isn't at all what I said.

Personally I am an old skool guy, but there are definite options in the modern world as well. Don't get tied up in the 4ohm thing, considering what you are doing you will be better off with an 8ohm driver anyways.

Why did I know that you were going to ask that? I'm a little embarrased by this but...here's a link to what I'm using...can't remember the exact crossover point I went with but I think it was 3k... http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=260-144 I have never read up on building my own crossovers but I have always wanted to. Would the gains of custom matching x-over components to the drivers be worth it or should I just go active? I've been considering each option. Your crossover is what really caused the failure of your drivers. Having a mismatched passive is a terrible idea. If you haven't ever built a passive and don't have access to measuring gear to measure the response of your drivers in your installation you will be much better off with an active implementation. You asked about the Aurum, while I haven't heard that exact driver my expectations are that it is a nice driver from others I have heard; however, if you try to implement this with an off the shelf crossover it will sound WAY worse than your current setup. Having a hard cone material means there is going to be break up that will really need to be tamed. It would stand a better chance of living than the 6.5 you currently have, but mostly due to the extra xmax and cone size causing you to throw a bit less at it. Before really settling on a driver or even recommending one we should really take a step back and look into your mounting locations, available amplifier power, available crossover networks, installation skills, and of course your listening preferences. Without understanding the whole lot it would be pretty tough to help you narrow down your speaker choice as there are a ton that will work.

None of his questions really matter. It is a burp sub meant to get super loud which it will and take a crap ton of power doing it.
-
You didn't get my point at all, by normal listening levels I mean under 110dB. Having 3 sets of comps is going to be an acoustic mess.
-
Almost anything which is the beauty of that driver. What are your preferences? Heard any tweeters that you like? How about component sets? Are you willing to run a large format tweeter?

Nice work!!

You know they have the micro festivus every year in roanoke right ? when?

Do what you would do if you were from Minnesoooooota. Make a hot hamburger sandwhich. Fry that shit, make a gravy in the pan and then put it on bread/mashed potatoes. If you don't have bread or potatoes, noodles or rice could substitute although we of course would use the wild rice.

It's probably...no, it's by far the worst idea I've ever seen done on a forum. Video hosting is a cool idea, but having them automatically play on page loads is stupid. A big, resounding fuck you to anyone on a slower connection. that and the average pr0n here is crap ass sounding sweeps over frequency ranges the drivers have no reason in ever trying to play

Should have convinced him it was bait and taken him fishing for that $25

$160 flight from Minny

/\ been searching for other things. He has a boat too he would like to tow, if that really pertains he gets a Crown Vic.

I need to help my 30yr old, mooching off daddy friend buy a new car that is safe for him and his baby tomorrow for around $10k. He has never had anything worth a chit and is terrible at taking care of anything (Lord help his kid) so he gets to buy a Camry. I won't be helping anyone buy a Honduh and he needs something that won't break and is cheap to fix...more so than the original purchase since that won't be his money.

milton bradley, when I heard his name on ESPN first I thought they were talking about the toy company or whatever it was. What a friggin' tard. I bet he has eminence drivers in his car and 24"DP's

Imagine that Chicago, Madison, & Minneapolis all hit the list. http://promo.realestate.yahoo.com/the_top_...est_cities.html

ha, E Minton drive. I am coming to get you sucka.
-
What were you previously using for crossovers and what are you planning to use when you change drivers?
-
Depends a bit on your listening preferences. The L18, CA18, ER18, and NX18 are all great drivers but have a very different sound as well. The NX would be great, but too much dough. The CA and L will have the most midbass, but the L is aluminum and has a nasty breakup mode you have to tame with your headunit. Considering it is your first active setup I'd lean towards the CA or ER with the CA being the easiest to implement.

I still dig on Madison though.

Extra 4 hours away too...and no house to do anything at.
